The Work You Will Do:

This posting is for an Government Analyst II position located at the Department of Environmental Protection's Southwest District Office, in Temple Terrace.

This position is a highly responsible administrative position responsible for continued development, implementation, and effective management of key processes and programs within the district's administrative program. Actively supports and works toward fulfilling the Agency's Affirmative Action objectives.

Where You Will Work:

The Southwest District Office is located in Temple Terrace, a small city just outside of Tampa. Tampa is close to the Gulf Coast with beautiful white sand beaches. It is considered a major business center while also known for its museums and cultural offerings. Places such as the Busch Gardens Theme Park, historic Ybor City with its many restaurants and nightlife, the world's longest continuous sidewalk along Bayshore Blvd., and a sports enthusiast haven are just some of the many activities people can enjoy in the area. There is also no state income tax for residents of Florida. The Southwest District covers 8 counties (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Polk, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, and Hardee).

Pay:

Your Specific Responsibilities:

In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department's Standards of Conduct, as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position. If position is supervisory, incumbent is also expected to actively support and work toward fulfilling the Agency's Affirmative Action objectives.

This position is a highly responsible administrative position responsible for continued development, implementation, and effective management of key processes and programs within the district's administrative program. This position reports to the Operations Manager C. The incumbent is expected to work closely with the various Business Planning Team Members and the CAP and Permitting administrators or their designees in carrying out assigned duties and in the implementation the principles of Continuous Improvement and the implementation of LEAN methodology to reduce waste and provide services that add value for all customers.

LCT Accounts Receivable Coordinator: Serves as the district's LCT accounts receivable (AR) coordinator. Works closely with program staff, division, and OGC staff to ensure all ARs are handled in a timely manner. Researches checks as to the related program area, add-on fee, site numbers and accuracy of OGC case numbers and notes as such into CRA. Responsibilities include ensuring permit applicant checks are logged and received, Permit applications are screened for the department area and delivered to each appropriate program area for fee review. This position is responsible for safeguarding the district's permit application checks until the checks are locally deposited. Processes fee requests, check returns and refund requests. Responsible for the strict adherence to the written revenue processing policies. Practices accepted accounting procedures at all times and at all levels.

Business Support: Builds and maintains relationships with key business support partners. Coordinates, plans, and participates in business supports outreach activities as required. Provides information and referral duties, in person and by telephone, as well as taking and routing messages for all District staff members. Assist with answering and routing of all incoming telephone calls to the appropriate section or individual from the central switchboard. Takes and relays messages for personnel when they are unavailable. Greets, announces and directs visitors to the appropriate areas and issues visitor identification badges. Gives general information regarding services rendered by the Agency as well as locations and services offered by other agencies. Records and issues security passes for staff and visitors. Serves as backup for clerical positions as needed.

CAP AND PERMITTING SUPPORT: Provide support in the following areas and as required;

  • Updating of internal email distribution lists

  • EDP Management/Planning/Tracking - responsible for the annual coordination of the Employee Development Plan and subsequent tracking for completion.

  • Internship program coordinator - responsible development and maintenance of the district internship program. In addition will track incoming intern applications, scheduling of interviews and coordination of program each semester.

  • Training Liaison - responsible for attending monthly meetings and coordination of training opportunities throughout the district in the PeopleFirst Learning Management System.

OTHER DUTIES: Carrying out assignments related to special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Skilled in the use MS Office Software programs and other databases to complete assignments.

  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.

  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.

  • Ability to understand and apply process improvement strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college; or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described in this posting, for a total of four years.

Other Job Related Requirements for this position:

  • Maintain a Valid Class E Driver's License.

  • The ability to successfully complete a Level 2 State and National criminal history background check.
