This is an opportunity to be part of the crew that keeps Devils Knob, Wintergreens highly ranked mountain golf course, looking and playing great. The maintenance position includes.

In this position, you will help prepare, maintain, and/or repair tees, cups, traps, greens, roughs, fairways, bunkers, creeks, and lakes, and involves the use of hand tools, weed-eaters, fly-mowers, mowing equipment, fertilizer spreaders, and other maintenance tools. Work is performed under supervision, according to specific instruction given by management staff and/or course Superintendent. Employees may be exposed to constant physical exertion, loud noise, machinery, dirt, dust, chemical odors, and extreme weather conditions.


  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn about the care and proper use of tools and equipment used in the development and maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, hazards, and general grounds of a golf course

  • Ability to quickly learn maintenance, care, and construction of greens, tees, fairways, hazards, bunkers, irrigation systems, and general grounds of a golf course

  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn about turf disease, insects and rodents, chemicals, and the methods used to control these elements

  • Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn about the rules of golf

  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the public.

  • Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn occupational hazards and safety precautions

  • Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required


  • Ability to report for work on time and perform the duties of the job for an entire workday

  • Must have sufficient physical strength and ability to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and to repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing more than 100 pounds with assistance


  • Responsible for the safe operation of any equipment used

  • Perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance and construction

  • May sit, stand, stoop, climb ladders and walk for long periods of time

  • Clean, maintain, and service equipment

  • Cut grass with power equipment and hand tools

  • Loads and unloads dirt, gravel, sand and debris

  • Pick up trash on the golf course, in the maintenance building, and on the clubhouse grounds

  • Communicate effectively with other employees in the maintenance department and pro shop area

  • Operate various hand tools, including but not limited to, weed eater, backpack sprayer, backpack blower and water hose

VIEW JOBS 6/20/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-09-18T00:00 JOB TITLE: Crew Member DEPARTMENT: Public Areas REPORTS TO: Public Areas Supervisor, Director of Lodging GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Wintergreen Resort's Public Areas Crew Members are responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of all public areas including, but not limited to; restaurants, stairwells, walkways, restrooms, windows, snow removal and all other areas as designated by the Public Areas Supervisor. Crew Members are expected to promote a positive image of the resort property to guests and must be pleasant, honest, friendly and should also able to efficiently address guest requests and problems. SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred applicants will have an active drivers license with clean driving history, and will be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Qualified candidates will be capable of doing janitorial work which may involve heavy or extensive physical labor, including prolonged periods of standing and walking. In addition, considered applicants must be capable of lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance, must be capable of working with cleaning chemicals and equipment, and will be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions as crew members will assist in all snow removal operations. Because the job of Public Areas Crew Member may be done alone, applicants should be able to show a previous history of effectively working independently, and should comfortable working with little supervision. SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. * Service, clean, or supply restrooms. * Gather and empty trash. * Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. * Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. * Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications. * Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. * Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. * Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. * Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees. * Snow Removal from Public Areas to include using Snow Blowers, Shovels and Ice Picks.
