Job Summary:

The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center within the Systems Engineering Directorate consists of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Signal Processing (SP) and Modeling and Simulation disciplines for Effectors. In the GNC department, we design, integrate, and optimize guidance, navigation, state estimation, and control algorithms to meet mission objectives. We support new business initiatives and help develop & execute technology roadmaps.

The GNC Department is seeking a Principal GNC Engineer to perform in the role of GNC Performance Product Owner for Air Dominance.

This position is located in Tucson, AZ.

This position is an onsite role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • As a Principal GNC Engineer, you are viewed as a seasoned professional contributor, having advanced to expert knowledge in GNC and system performance for legacy Air Dominance weapons portfolio.

  • You will support missile guidance tasks including guidance law development, state estimation, sensor fusion, trajectory shaping, and miss distance performance optimization.

  • You will work with embedded software including real-time GNC algorithm development for missiles system products.

  • You will support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.

  • You will be relied on to solve difficult and complex problems, often undefined, and you may be asked to manage moderately sized projects and/or processes.

  • You will be trusted to coach, review, and delegate work to earlier career professionals.

  • The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain special access Program clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior guidance, navigation and/or controls engineering experience.

  • Experience including at least two of the following: digital and/or modern control systems, dynamics, Kalman filter design, Monte Carlo, or signal processing.

  • Experience with Matlab, C, C++, and/or Object Oriented design

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Legacy knowledge on Air Dominance family of products

  • Advanced degree in STEM. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • Experience with Unix and/or Linux operating systems

  • Experience with missiles, gravity bombs, or autonomous / collaborative air vehicles

  • Results-oriented work ethic and able to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team

  • Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
