The GMP Asset Mechanic is responsible to ensure that GMP production assets are evaluated prior to purchase, qualified and documented as needed, maintained and commissioned prior to use, and properly decommissioned and stored for future use. This individual reviews equipment and room designs, executes qualification and maintenance activities, troubleshoots and assesses failures and corrective work as well as implement applicable preventative actions, and provides input for the development of maintenance plans, tasks, procedures, and schedules. The individual recommends and/or procures spare parts and consumables. Individual will provide supervision of external contractors to maintain equipment while documenting historically significant activities as directed.

This individual coordinates the daily activities of a technical professional team including contractors. In addition this individual fosters a high level of knowledge and competence relating to equipment within the GMP Operations function by acting as a trainer and mentor. This includes refining and enforcing best practice maintenance, product adjustment and troubleshooting.

Key Accountabilities

  • Performs planned and unplanned maintenance on assets in a GMP environment and ensures activities are properly documented.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and system failures and determines or supports determination of root cause and recommends/performs corrective actions and preventative measures.

  • Coordinates and performs equipment relocation and initial equipment setup / startup / commissioning per production schedule. Acts to prevent damage during relocation, that the asset is fully functional and within specification before releasing asset for use, and that operators understand equipment operation and status.

  • Supports installation of new equipment which may include: FAT, SAT, execution of qualification protocols, and determination of maintenance plans and spare parts

  • Work cross-functionally with other resources (operations, purchasing, planning, QA, Project Management, laboratory, manufacturing, etc.) to schedule, perform and properly document any and all relevant tasks pertaining to GMP Assets.

  • Utilizes and develops task lists and maintenance plans derived from experience, asset manuals, and review with manufacturer technical support regarding equipment commissioning, setup, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.

  • Develops and performs; work orders, work permits, change controls, and writes, reviews and/or approves Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), specifications, and other procedures as required.

  • Training of personnel regarding equipment maintenance, setup, operation, cleaning, SOPs, etc.

  • Follow Lonza safety procedures, participate in safety processes, and comply with all state and federal regulatory requirements and guidelines.

  • Provide input for forecasting of budget requirements and help to manage department expenses

  • Maintain a positive, professional, and confidential relationship with internal customers, clients, and vendors.

  • Adhere to all defined Safety and Sustainability requirements and expectations and seek clarification whenever Safety and Sustainability requirements and expectations are either unknown or unclear

  • Promptly report identified Safety and Sustainability issues, problems, deficiencies, errors, incidents, and/or opportunities to management and correct where possible

  • Stop work where deemed necessary to maintain safety

Key Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED

  • Strong working experience in GMP environment.

  • Ability to provide 24-hour emergency support as defined and perform other applicable duties as assigned.

  • Strong knowledge of Packaging Equipment

  • Solid experience coordinating daily activities of technical professional team.

The Senior Manager, GMP Audit will assess processes, systems and procedures, to evaluate their quality performance against established standards and regulatory agency guidelines. This position leads independent GMP audits and inspection preparation activities, resolution of audit and inspection findings, and liaises with appropriate site quality and above site quality teams through all stages of the audit lifecycle. The Senior Manager, GMP Audit may lead or participate in complex cross functional projects. This position contributes to enabling a culture of innovation, excellence and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System, through engagement with Pfizer site audit teams to incorporate audit outcomes and best practices across the Pfizer manufacturing and supply network. Quality: http://www.pfizer.com/about/quality ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES * As assigned, independently lead or participate in GMP audits and assessments of Pfizer facilities, contract manufacturers, suppliers and GMP service providers involved in the manufacture, packaging, testing and distribution of APIs, clinical trial materials and commercial biopharmaceutical products worldwide, including Pfizer Country Office locations with GMP responsibilities * Assess if the auditee is executing operations in compliance with cGMP requirements and guidelines, Pfizer Quality Standards and Quality Agreement requirements and Standard Operating Procedures * Assess whether employees are being properly trained for their responsibilities, as well as the adequacy of the facilities and equipment used for manufacturing, packaging, testing and distribution of APIs, clinical trial materials and commercial biopharmaceutical products * Communicate relevant quality and business information to the facility, contract manufacturer, supplier or GMP service provider audited, in an effort to maintain and enhance the relationship between the auditee and Pfizer * Interpret regulatory and business challenges and best practices, report risks or weaknesses that could lead to cGMP compliance issues, and recommend required improvements or solutions * Lead or participate in GMP audits at Pfizer facilities, contract manufacturers, suppliers and GMP service providers. Responsibilities for these activities include but are not limited to: * Lead negotiations with auditees to schedule audits * Lead audit preparation activities including gathering of and review of auditee' relevant quality and performance metrics to determine risk-based audit scope * Lead the audit execution, or actively participate in the audit execution as directed by the lead auditor * Lead the preparation of audit reports * Lead the review and evaluate the adequacy of the auditee response to audit findings * Perform audit follow-up activities as required or as directed by leadership * In appropriate situations, initiate reviews through consultation and agreement with others, including subject matter experts * Maintain the appropriate audit database with relevant records and information pertaining to the lifecycle of assigned audits * Maintain and expand current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, internationally recognized standards and other pertinent policies, procedures, and standards that could impact the auditee's operations * Liaise between auditee and the appropriate Pfizer groups, to ensure that all pertinent information that could have an impact on the auditee's or Pfizer's business (e.g., auditee's regulatory inspection activities or significant changes) are requested, provided and documented * Lead or participate in due diligence assessments as required to assess auditee's Quality compliance * As assigned, aid the auditee in preparing for upcoming regulatory inspections. * Apply technical knowledge to influence the design, planning and execution of cross functional projects * Able to collaborate proactively with leadership, site personnel and subject matter experts, to enable a culture of excellence in independent objective audits and effective CAPAs * Develop cross functional collaborative relationships to facilitate engagement, team building, best practice sharing, risk-based analysis, critical thinking and innovative problem solving * Lead or participate in department wide initiatives to advance the business strategy of the GMP audit function QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's Degree in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent required * Minimum 10 years of progressive, challenging experience in the biopharmaceutical industry required, inclusive of quality control / assurance, manufacturing and GMP auditing (may include Product Development) * Proven knowledge and experience in GMP auditing of at least 3 technology platforms and areas of specialization such as small molecules, biologics, medical device combination products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, aseptic operations, non-aseptic operations, laboratory operations (chemistry, microbiology, specialized), advanced therapies, computerized systems, software as medical device, good distribution practices, and Pfizer country offices * Demonstrated ability to apply the following competencies and soft skills: business skills (negotiation, logical reasoning, critical thinking, decision making, presentation skills); leadership skills (persuasive communication, active listening, active learner); relationship skills (stakeholder management, social perceptiveness, relationship building); and supporting technical skills (technical writing, digital acumen, data analytics) * Must understand the elements and requirements of the Quality Management System at the Pfizer facilities, contract manufacturers, suppliers and GMP service providers audited * Has a strong understanding of relevant regulatory and audit frameworks that apply to biopharmaceutical operations, has in-depth knowledge of cGMP requirements and expectations, is familiar with global regulations and internationally recognized standards (e.g., FDA, EU, TGA, PIC/S, ISO), and is capable of understanding and reacting to emerging regulations and business / regulatory trends. * Critically evaluates information from the auditee and is able to identify risk areas in the field.
