The GM leads and manages the Operating Company (OpCO), which provides distribution services to customers on a national basis. Is accountable for achieving established profit, EBITDA, sales growth, and other financial measures of the business unit. Responsible for effective operations of the Vistar - Wisconsin business (OpCo), and supervises all staff levels. Develops and implements operating policies/procedures across functions such as sales, customer service, quality, purchasing, inventory control, distribution, IT and facilities maintenance and planning. Conducts and reviews feasibility of new or revised systems and procedures.
Responsible for all supply chain management functions within OpCo business. Requires thorough involvement with sales, operations, procurement, customer service, finance, IT and HR.
Responsible for the effective management of sales activities to ensure that margin and profit objectives are met. Directs the segment sales efforts through working with the sales staff, centralized inside sales support, and other personnel responsible for maintaining positive relationships with customers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervises management team to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution. Ensures the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood. Maintain leadership development practices that promote and provide for capable management succession.
Planning and budgeting to achieve business objectives, and coordinate functions between departments and with other retail operations in order to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives. Establish current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies. Direct the preparation of the annual budget
Review reporting and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives, and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions. Review operating results of the OpCo, compare them to established objectives, and take steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results. Review analysis of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine OpCo progress toward stated goals and objectives.
Guide and direct management in the development, promotion, and sale of the OpCo's services
Direct overall sales and supply chain management within the OpCo to ensure attainment of departmental goals and objectives, evaluating performance of staff members for compliance with established policies and objectives of the OpCo and their contributions in attaining those objectives.
Responsible for all pricing decisions, profit margins and expense control for the retail department.
Serves as a member of the Vistar Corrections Executive Team, and provides input on short and long-term company policy and plans.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
