GLOBAL TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR

Job Purpose:

  • Coordinates and consolidates domestic and international systems to support shipments.

  • Ensures lowest cost transportation by analyzing company and customer needs, researching transportation methods and auditing carrier costs and performances.

  • Interprets laws, rules and regulations regarding shipping and prepares applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.

  • Maintains logs and compiles information on routes, rates and services on various vendors.

Nature of Duties:

  • Coordinate Global Transportation Services to and from 10 North America plants and repair facilities

  • Drive most cost effective transportation activities to minimize cost and maximize use of corporate preferred Transportation Service Providers (TSP)

  • Daily monitoring of TSP in-transit / exception reports

  • Provide guidance to plants regarding TSP selection

  • Primary, corporate level, point of escalation regarding TSP service performance

  • Conduct reviews with global transportation providers and drive improved performance on key metrics

  • Develop and implement transportation cost savings initiatives

  • Responsible for TSP compliance to volume incentive programs

  • Track corporate adherance to volume commitment

  • Ensure receipt of credits, rate adjustments or payments from TSP.

  • Assist business development with project/rate quotes.

  • Provide total landed cost quotes as required

  • Ensure accurate TSP information and account codes are entered into and maintained in ERP.

Education and Experience:

  • BS or BA. Preferably in business, transportation or supply chain logistics

  • Minimum five years experience in domestic and international transportation or logistics

  • Freight forwarding background helpful but not necessary

  • General knowledge of International Trade Compliance and Customs regulations

  • Working knowledge of supply chain security initiatives such as C-TPAT, FAST, etc

  • Skilled in Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Some travel required (no more than 5%)
