HR Directions seeks multiple Summer 2019 interns for its client, RTI International, within the Global Technology Solutions (GTS) department. GTS is the centralized technology hub that provides core technology services to RTI's internal customers and business units. GTS provides opportunities in all aspects of information technology (IT), including support, infrastructure applications and development, business intelligence and project management.
The internship will provide the successful prospect a mentored learning experience, and the opportunity to expand his/her classroom knowledge and skills within a professional setting. The GTS Internship will provide the successful intern with an opportunity to share and develop innovative ideas, process improvements and automation to the department, as well as gain implementation experience.
The successful interns will have planning, development, configuration, communication/marketing, process, and administrative-related responsibilities based on the specific GTS internship tracks, below.
Full Stack: Concentrates on web design, the DOM, software development patterns, APIs, and databases including standard schema design.
Front End: Concentrates on web design, the DOM, software development patterns, UX patterns and creating responsive designs, and mobile applications.
Machine Learning: Concentrates on data science, creating machine learning and predictive models, databases, big data frameworks, and designing data schemas.
Data Warehouse: Concentrates on creating ETL solutions for customers with various types of data challenges, as well as identifying and testing for bugs and bottlenecks in the ETL solutions; designing, building and deploying effective SSIS packages; implementing stored procedures and effectively querying databases; translating requirements from the business and analysts into technical code; ensuring best possible security, performance, and quality in the packages.
Business Intelligence: Concentrates on translating business requirements from the user community and delivering solutions; gathering and analyzing business requirements from internal customers, evaluating solution options, and developing recommendations in the form of specifications; building document standards for the department to ensure business continuity; data modeling using financial, HR, and corporate operational data sets, among others; reporting and delivering on customers' needs.
Technology Marketing & Communications: Works with the leadership team to develop communications and marketing materials to address changes in the environment, and strategy re-branding, as well as developing newsletter communications to inform the business of best practices.
Infrastructure Automation & Development Operations: Concentrates on installing, upgrading, and configuring Linux and Windows servers in Azure cloud environments; establishing comprehensive system and infrastructure availability and performance monitoring and alerts; utilizing containers and automating operation processes; deploying infrastructure in Azure; and promoting the integration of new technologies and solutions to improve the organization's capabilities and create cost-saving efficiencies.
This paid internship will be located in Research Triangle Park, NC, beginning in June 2019 through August 2019. It will require a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible between regular business hours (8am-5pm, Monday through Friday).

Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
Studied or is studying an IT-related discipline, data science, or communications and marketing degree with a technology concentration
Experience with database development
Experience developing and designing APIs;
Experience with or understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases/servers, SSIS Catalog, SSIS, and T-SQL;
Knowledgeable on different UX patterns;
Experience working on mobile applications;
Familiarity with Python and/or R, and knowledge of various data science libraries.
