Position Summary

NYU seeks a Global Tax Compliance Analyst to assist the schools and units with important compliance and coordination activities for tax activities outside the New York campus including analyzing third party service provider reports to detail optimal tax withholding strategies and determining the type of registration to be executed to avoid/limit accounting/tax reporting requirements. Liaise with other University offices such as the Office of General Counsel, Office of Global Services, Global Programs Office, University Human Resources, Insurance, Controller's Division, Treasury, and Public Safety to ensure activities outside of the New York campus are conducted in accordance with US, University and local regulations.

Liaise with third party providers as necessary to ensure service are rendered as expected and assist with the resolution of complex issues. Liaise with the Global Programs Office and representatives of Global Sites to confirm all required tax filings have been submitted timely and accurately. Provide tax support as necessary including assisting Human Resources, Global Programs Office, Program Services Office, and the Global sites.


Required Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting.Preferred Education:Master's degree in Accounting, Tax or relevant field.Required Experience:3 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination. Must include experience with dealing with foreign tax issues.Preferred Experience:Higher Education Tax Experience.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Expert knowledge of a variety of software applications including database and spreadsheet software.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Prosystem, Advanced Microsoft Office skills, Workday.

Provide tax guidance, planning, and compliance for public and private companies including: REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts), homebuilders, low-income housing, real estate core and opportunity funds, developers, construction companies, hotel companies, private equity firms, and brokerage companies. Perform transactions and basis calculations. Provide audit support for all clients including REIT testing and tax provisions for taxable REIT subsidiaries and "blocker corporations". Review tax compliance process for international Real Estate funds and Schedule K-1 tax reporting packages to US investors, tax returns, and tax projections throughout the year. Manage and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities. Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Tax, Finance, Law or related, plus 5 years of post-bachelor's progressive experience; OR Master's degree in Accounting, Business, Tax, Finance, Law or related, plus 4 years of related experience. Of the required experience, must have 3 years of real estate fund experience in a professional service firm, accounting firm, or similar industry experience. Must have 4 years of cumulative experience in the following: * Section 704 (b) and (c) capital account maintenance; * US withholding on FDAP; * ECI and FIRPTA income; * REIT income; and, * Asset testing. Must have 4 years of cumulative experience with Go System/One Source; RIA Checkpoint tax research; and, Microsoft office suite. Must have CPA certification or state bar membership.
