The Role

The Global Supply Manager Battery Cell will drive strategic sourcing, Engineering interfaces, commercial negotiation, cost reduction opportunities, business partnership development and overall supplier management for Tesla's Battery Cell Supply Chain. Responsibilities

  • Support the Tesla Engineering and Program teams for both future program and current production vehicles.

  • Build technical knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, technology landscape, and supply base.

  • Develop suitable supply chain capacities and capabilities to support next generation designs and manufacturing process.

  • Validate, analyze, and make sourcing recommendations based on commercial evaluation of supplier proposals.

  • Fully support aggressive program and project timelines.

  • Lead a cross-functional (Engineering, quality, and supply chain) team in development of Tesla commercial and technical strategies for Battery Cell in both Vehicle and Energy Products.

  • Support organizational cost management objectives by identifying and negotiating commercial cost reduction opportunities.

  • Negotiate cost changes related to product design changes on current production.

  • Cultivate Best-in-Industry supplier relationships as single point of contact for all commercial and strategic issues in the Battery Cell commodity.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Tesla's procurement, production, and related ERP systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Econ, Engineering or Supply Chain Management, Master's degree preferred and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.

  • Experience operating in a high technology supply chain environment / purchasing background, automotive experience at O.E.M. or major Tier I supplier preferred

  • Understanding of contract fundamentals

  • Experience developing "should-cost" estimates and analyzing supplier quotes

  • Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve

  • Demonstrated experience achieving and exceeding cost-reduction objectives

  • Excellent Excel and other MS Office skills required

  • Experience with ERP or MRP purchasing systems preferred.

  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects, with various teams including engineers and supply chain personnel.

  • Excellent negotiation, written and verbal skills.

  • Organizational skills to manage and track transactional details.

  • Team player and with strong interpersonal and project management skills.

Prior experience and expertise in the fields of intestinal immunology and immuno-oncology is highly preferred * Proficiency in in vivo tumor models * Understanding of microbiota interactions with the immune system * Technical expertise with immune cell-based functional assays (e.g. activation, differentiation, proliferation, and suppression assays) * Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team * Strong communication and organization skills * Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in the area of immunology Preferred Experience and Skills: The candidate should have extensive experience in using complex systems (e.g. orthotopic model of colon cancer) to address specific question related to target discovery and target validation. Understanding the mechanisms of immune-mediated CRC development in animal models is critical for target discovery. Ability to break down complex in vivo systems into subsets of discrete immunological and biological components is another important key to success. Using cell biology, molecular biology, and histopathology to dissect the in vivo observations and drive the discovery and target validation process.
