Job Overview

The Data and Devices business unit of TE Connectivity has an opportunity for a Global Product Manager for the Board to Board product team.

The Global Product Manager will manage all aspects of a global product line or portfolio acting as a "mini" GM with responsibility for overall product strategy, business leadership and capacity plans in order to meet sales and gross margin targets.

The Global Product Manager will interact and collaborate extensively with global cross-functional teams in engineering, sales, marketing, manufacturing and customer support, as well as the global supply chain, to implement strategies which will achieve diversification in product offering, markets, customers, supply chain and the geographic scope of the business. The Global Product Manager will manage aspects of developing and implementing strategies for new business opportunities and influencing key decisions which will directly impact the long term competitiveness and success of the Product Line.

What you will be doing:

Market Sensing & Strategy Development:

  • Articulate market trends, demand drivers, customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape

  • Conduct market segmentation exercises to develop market segment-specific strategies.

  • Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking

  • Define segment specific value propositions that beat the competition

  • Develop product roadmaps that aligns with business strategy

  • Design go to market strategy, inclusive of channel strategy and partnerships

  • Work with R&D and operations in the development of new products to meet current and future customer requirements

  • Manage the product lifecycle

Develop Business Plan

  • Define resource requirements necessary to execute the product roadmap

  • Work cross functionally to define sales, technology and operations strategies and goals, in line with financial goals. Build consensus on specific tasks

  • Establish pricing policy

  • Develop the annual operating plan (Sales and gross or standard margin)

Execution New Product Development & Launch

  • Be the opportunity champion for PAC projects

  • Plans product launches, including the development of marketing and sales plans

  • Provide demand forecast inputs to S&OP

  • Attend customer meetings in support of winning new business

  • Exercise thought leadership

  • Provide inputs to Marcom for the development of collateral, including e-commerce

Execution Post Launch Product Management

  • Manage the P&L (sales and gross or standard margin) for the assigned portfolio

  • Deliver sustained profitable growth

  • Enable sales to promote product line via training and the development of collateral materials that help articulate the value proposition

  • Manage special price requests

  • Track progress to the business plan and facilitate resolution to gaps

  • Be the champion for resolution of product issues (e.g., quality, delivery, etc.)

What your background should look like:

  • 8+ years of product management or sales experience

  • Relevant product or industry experience desired

  • Prior P&L management experience

  • 4-year technical or business degree required

  • Advanced degree (MBA) preferred

  • Strong business acumen with an ability to understand technically complex concepts

  • Creative and innovative thinker able to provide input on the development of the product strategies and the relevant business plans with the ability to execute

  • Proven ability to multi-task and drive results in a dynamic, high paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal, planning, organization, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to influence cross functional teams and to build strong relationships both internally and externally

  • Advanced presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to foster understanding and acknowledgement of critical information both up and down the organization.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally between 10% - 25%

Job Overview TE Connectivity's Product Management Teams manage all aspects of a product, from driving new product development to manufacturing to marketing. The Product Manager will be directly responsible for growing the sales and profitability of their assigned product lines. They will be responsible for understanding the needs of the markets they serve and develop a vision for their product lines. They will coordinate and lead the efforts of sales, marketing, engineering, supply chain, and customer care to become the preferred solution provider for their customers. They will be expected to establish goals for their assignment and develop and execute plans to achieve these goals. They will be considered "General Managers" for their products. This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee Responsibilities & Qualifications * Develop and execute a short-term strategy and develop a 5-10 year strategic vision for the product line that supports market share growth and profitability improvement objectives. * Understand the marketplace of assigned product lines, the competitive landscape, and macroeconomic trends. * Drive improvements to the product P&L. Forecast and track sales and profits, pro-actively addressing issues and implementing actions to ensure revenue and margin targets are achieved. * Work with engineering and sales to develop a product road map and provide prioritization guidance to the engineering organization. * Define and execute pricing strategies for their product portfolio. * Develop and execute go-to-market strategies to increase revenue pipeline. * Plan product launches, including the development of marketing and sales plans. * Create and deliver technical product training, presentations, brochures, and other promotional materials which will support our sales force and allow customers to understand the value proposal of our products and our company. * In partnership with value stream leaders, work on specific projects including footprint optimization to leverage strategic resources and increase margins of assigned product line. * Continue to support relationships with key OEM's and tier one industry customers, distributors, and other key stakeholders. * Participate in the Sales and Operation Planning process. Provide demand forecast inputs to the S&OP and work with the sales organization to drive forecast consensus. * Handle the daily activities associated with this role while managing the execution of the strategic initiatives of the business. * Lead, guide, listen, and work effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
