Livent Corporation is a fully integrated lithium company, with a long, proven history of producing lithium compounds for use in applications that have specific performance requirements, including battery-grade lithium hydroxide for use in high performance lithium-ion batteries. We also supply butyllithium, which is used as a synthesizer in the production of polymers and pharmaceutical products, as well as a range of specialty lithium compounds including high purity lithium metal, which is used in the production of lightweight materials for aerospace applications and non-rechargeable batteries. Will work with internal resources and packaging suppliers to achieve functional packaging goals. Responsible for developing packaging solutions for the organization products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Immediate Scope of this work is:
Responsible for providing plants with safe operation of the packaging processes and units to avoid exposure or injury
Intervenes when unsafe acts or conditions are encountered due to packaging failures.
Shares best practices related to packaging.
Keeps track of MOC related to packaging process.
Review and standardize the present packaging specification for all the products globally. Align these specifications to meet customer demand and site requirements.
Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving design, materials and processes and provide creative, timely and cost-effective solutions to achieve Zero packaging complaints from
Establish standard guidelines for efficiently operating all the packaging units globally.
Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation. Evaluate and select packaging supplier / vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews. Establish supplier standards to achieve zero supplier
Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials and packaging units
Responsible for auditing the SOPs of Global packaging processes and tracks the appropriate corrective actions and ensures implementation of the same.
Responsible for defining critical parameters for the packaging processes and ensures those are monitored, maintained and audited for consistency in packaging.
Responsible for leading global packaging change for all the products and will drive the packaging change process globally.
Work closely with operations to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time , quality , regionalization , standardization, supply assurance and compliance with customer, regulatory and internal
Specify and recommend test methods to validate the packaging material received at the site.
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer specification.
Participate in product introduction teams to define packaging for new products.
Conducts packaging audits at all the sites and tracks closure of CAPA related to NC in packaging at all the sites.
Monitors and Reviews in process parameter of the packaging units and provides feed back to the operations on the deviation observed.
Provides constructive feedback to the packaging team on the desired quality of the packaging and that which is in line with organization expectation.
Perform statistical calculation on the quality of packaging and review the data with GQM on Monthly basis.
Assist the site team with RCA on the customer complaints related to packaging in order to determine accurate root cause and support continuous improvement.
Collaborate with sales and customer service team to define the packaging specification for all the products and align them with customer requirement.
Ensures packaging team at sites have necessary support to effectively meet the quality requirements of the packaging.
Effectively support all levels of the site organization to drive continuous improvement in packaging.
Provides Root Cause Analysis support for all the packaging related complaints from customer and suppliers.
Provide quality assurance guidance and support for all the global product packaging.
Internal: Site Operations, Site Engineering, Health, Safety & Environment, Process Technology, Site Quality Control, Global quality control and assurance, Lithium Sales and Customer Service
External: Regulatory agencies, customers, vendors
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
At least 5 years of experience in Industrial packaging (Preferably in a chemical industry)
A bachelor's degree in packaging engineering is required
Knowledge and understanding of packaging design validation standards, drafting and specification standard is essential, in hazard materials, preferred
Problem solving, and decision-making skills are necessary
Must be able to work independently without any reports.
Understanding of process improvement and quality improvement concept is required.
Should have handled similar role in past experience.
Should have knowledge in performing packaging audits and train site team for lead auditors in packaging.
Should have handled supplier audits in previous role.
Proven ability to handle data and apply statistical method to drive improvements.
Preferably apply six sigma methodology to improve packaging quality and reduce variation in packaging systems.
Should have handled or lead RCA for packaging failures / complaints in previous roles.
Proven ability to train employee and influence employee outside of direct line of responsibility.
Expert communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated use of independent and practical judgment and ability to make data-driven decisions within context of defined processes
