POSITION TITLE: Global Operations and Supply Chain Intern
HQ DEPARTMENT: Global Support
REPORTS TO: Global Operations and Supply Chain Advisor
LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: 3 months (with possible extension)
NUMBER OF HOURS/WEEK: Minimum 20 hours per week (unpaid)
Due to the urgent nature of this recruitment, applications will be reviewed and interviews scheduled on a rolling basis.
The American Refugee Committee is an international nonprofit, nonsectarian organization that has provided humanitarian assistance and training to millions of beneficiaries over the last 30 years. ARC works with refugee communities in 12 countries around the world, helping people regain control of their lives. The people ARC serve have lost everything to events completely beyond their control. ARC provides shelter, clean water and sanitation, health care, skills training, microcredit education, protection and whatever support we can to let people begin again.
The Global Support Department helps to ensure that all ARC programs are meeting minimum standards and supports quality control efforts at the design, implementation, and evaluation stages of all ARC programmatic initiatives.
OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT:
To support the Global Operations Advisor and Officer as well as the Global Support Department in providing high quality support to all aspects of operations within the ARC global portfolio of country programs. This includes logistics, procurement, pharmaceutical supply chain, data management/organization and systems integration with other departments, including finance.
Support HQ compliance review of country program procurement processes and assignment of delegation of authority for high dollar/high risk purchases and contracts
Act as point of contact when the Global Operations Advisor travels to country programs, triage requests that need immediate attention and elevating them to the Advisor or other relevant staff.
Proof-reading documents for formatting and content
Support review of grant supported program reportsand other donor obligations
Attend weekly meetings with
Global Support staff to set individual work priorities
Collaborate in supporting global operations policy and procedure manuals
Assist in supporting ARC Country Program Key Performance Indicator reviews
Assist in the maintenance of the ARC Global Logistics Online Portal SharePoint Site
Organize and upload process documents into the Global Operations intranet site
Provide administrative support for a range of management tasks (such as filing, data entry, field staff to HQ visits, arranging teleconferenced meetings, taking meeting minutes, etc.)
As needed, assist Global Support staffin grant support/management activities
As needed, assist Development and Technical Teams
Other activities as needed and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Candidate/graduate Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) required, graduate degree/candidate preferred
Experience working in an office setting
Ability to dedicate minimum 12 (preferably 20+) hours per week, during the business day, ability to keep regular weekly hours preferred
Familiarity and/or interest in international development and/or humanitarian assistance
Experience with international NGOs a plus; Prior experience working in developing countries desirable
Familiarity with Humanitarian Logistics a plus
Must be able to represent ARC in a highly professional manner
Detail-oriented, ability to stay focused and engaged in repetitive tasks as well as tasks requiring critical thinking and analysis
Strong communications skills and ability to follow through short term and long term projects, while communicating progress to the team
IT/computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to utilize email system as amain source of task delegation
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; ability to navigate complex worksheets and graphs.
Experience with creating or editing e-learning modules and using Articulate 360 (Storyline 360) or Adobe Captivate is desirable.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to focus in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a small team
Extremely flexible with the ability to cope with stressful situations
Cross-cultural communication skillsand ability to work with multi-national staff
