Job Summary (Primary function)

The Global Medical Affairs Lead is vital to achieving program goals and works on a variety of projects that reflect the companys patient focused mission.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

  • Develop the medical strategy and execution of key deliverables within Global Medical Affairs.

  • Provide a coordinated approach to building Incytes medical leadership, through cross functional and regional alignment.

  • Partner closely with Global Medical Directors, and align with colleagues in other key functions to build alignment on key initiatives including optimal approach to data generation, communication and supporting access and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the scientific and clinical understanding of the pipeline and brand therapies.

  • Responsible for the coordination of Medical Affairs activities including development and execution of integrated medical plans (evidence generation and scientific communications), global external expert engagement plans, patient centric activities, medical advisory boards, ensuring the alignment of the publication and medical evidence to the integrated medical plan, providing appropriate input into the global investigator sponsored research and collaborations and other medical affairs activities as agreed with the VP, GMA.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD).

  • Medical Affairs experience (2+ years) At least 4+ years total of pharmaceutical or relevant medical/clinical experience minimum.

  • Understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of outcomes research /payer access issues.

  • Proven ability to generate, analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data.

  • Track record of successfully developing and executing Medical Plans both in terms of evidence generation, scientific communications and external expert engagements.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and products simultaneously to ensure timely, on-target and within budget accomplishment of tasks.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including development, marketing, and health outcomes.

  • Good communication and presentation skills in English.

  • Oncology experience preferred.

The Director Medical Affairs - Renal TA Alliances for the Phase 3B program will be accountable for the leadership of cross functional teams integral to the success of the asset. In addition, this individual will lead alliance functions between AstraZeneca and our key Development partner. This position plays a highly visible, critical role in the successful launch of an innovative, potential first-in-class medicine in an area of high unmet clinical need. Typical Accountabilities: Program Strategic Alignment-LDO trials * This individual will focus on the successful design, implementation, and timely completion of AstraZeneca's Phase 3B Trials in collaboration with Large Dialysis Organizations (LDOs) and our key development partner. * Working closely with the team leader and functional leads, the Lead Strategist is accountable for ensuring that the team operates in a way that ensures the timely delivery of high-quality results from these program-critical studies. * Provides program management leadership by active input into the project strategy and vision, ensuring alignment of the project strategy with operational delivery * Ensures appropriate linkages between project strategy and key internal processes across multiple functional areas (clinical development, trial operations, patient safety, commercial and marketing teams, and medical) * A critical role will be to provide the necessary communication and alignment with our external partners. Cross-functional Team Leadership and Delivery * Creates a shared sense of purpose, inspires and motivates others * Coaches project teams towards successful issue resolution and decision making and focuses the team on the right activities at the right time, can handle the majority of challenging project situations * Serves as a core team member (CMT) and drives efficient operation of all project stages, including overall plans, priorities, budget and risk management * CMT administrative functions * Coordinates and assists DMA with budget planning and resolution * Assists medical team with material content development for internal and external presentations * Liaisons with commercial and medical teams on external scientific expert coordination and engagement planning Governance * Manages cross-functional team towards effective governance decisions * Leverages broad influential network and ensures engagement with and input from all appropriate stakeholders prior to key decisions Planning, Monitoring and Delivery * Ensures that overall team deliverables, budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set, governance approved and attained, and that the project effectively fulfills all business reporting requirements.
