Global Key Accounts Manager - Research Solution Sales

Do you have experience working with drug discovery/drug development, or research teams? Do you have a successful sales track record selling to global organizations? This position sells into a select set of the top global Pharmaceutical/Biotech companies and manages those strategic client relationships. At Elsevier we work as a team. As the Global Key Account Manager, you will be overseeing the strategic growth of business within the accounts among our most important Key Accounts. You will be working and coordinating with new business Solutions Sales Managers, product Customer Consultants, and professional services Consultants, who will support you in generating new business, renewal sales, and customer satisfaction within these Pharma/ Biotech Key accounts.

Your responsibilities:

  • Oversee the global sales strategy of Elsevier's Core Journals and Life Sciences solutions to select Pharmaceutical/Biotech companies

  • Responsible for overall sales/revenue of the Elsevier Core and Life Sciences portfolio: planning, strategy, execution and market Intelligence, renewal, new business development, solution implementation and customer retention

  • Lead, manage change and effectively implement global initiatives among across the Key Account

  • Liaison with Marketing to influence product and marketing execution to advance sales

  • Develop and maintain product champions within each region

  • Leader in large negotiations

Our requirements:

  • 3-5 years of proven success in Key Account Management consisting of strategic sales representatives, selling complex products, ideally into life science R&D accounts

  • Successful sales track record calling on executive level decision makers at large corporate accounts with experience in high level negotiations

  • Background in consultative "solution selling" with major accounts

  • Experience working with, or in research would be helpful

  • Background in biology, chemistry, pharmacology or bioinformatics is helpful

  • Experience selling information and/or software would be helpful

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) required

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Fluent in English

  • Ability to motivate and inspire others; positive attitude is a must

Your Career The Global Accounts Systems Engineering Director (SED) reports to the Vice President of Systems Engineering for the Americas and will lead our team of Global Accounts Systems Engineers (SE) who are the go-to technical experts assisting the sales team in generating growth. A challenger sales mentality and a fast-growing mindset are a must * Proven experience managing managers, not just individuals * Industry knowledge of security product market trends and directional awareness of Palo Alto Network's roadmap and technology development efforts * Knowledge of how to deliver comprehensive security solutions to PAN's customer base, and maintains a general understanding of competitive selling strategies * Demonstrated experience in working directly with customers at senior levels within an organization, as well as working with industry partners and alliances * Possess the intellect and the executive presence to become a true business partner across functions * 50-75% Travel * An articulate, social individual that can translate a highly technical solution in simple business terms and develop relationships with decision makers * Highly commercial in orientation, with a strong focus on the customer and a clear commitment to generating topline growth * Leading by example, this individual, when necessary, will not hesitate to get into the details of the business * Highly autonomous individual that can lead a cross-functional project from the ground up and make things happen * Decisive leader with a passion for the business and a real sense of urgency * Strategic thinking: To plan and build and other sales and marketing leaders.
