Summary: New Mexico State University's Global Campus seeks multiple Global Immigration Advisors to serve as Designated School Officials (DSOs) and Alternate Responsible Officers (AROs), interpreting and complying with regulations established by the Departments of Homeland Security and State for F and J visa holders.

Responsibilities include advising F-1 and J-1 students on compliance with immigration regulations, maintaining student immigration records in SEVIS, providing orientation and immigration advising to visiting J-1 Scholars, and collaborating with the Director on complex immigration matters. Additionally, Global Immigration Advisors will contact new international students for necessary documents issuance, advise academic departments on J-1 Scholars' sponsorship process, manage student information in Banner, administer international student scholarships, and act as a resource for the International Club.

Classification Summary:

Serves as an ambassador and representative of the University or Community College with a variety of audiences, including prospective students and their families, applicants, newly admitted students, P-12 school district students and staff, community college students and staff, business and other community members, University faculty and staff, and alumni. Responsible for managing respective recruitment territory, which includes extensive fall travel during the six to eight week long recruitment season.

Guides prospective students and their families through the application process. Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with key constituencies in recruitment territory. Responsible for assisting with all areas of admission including undergraduate, transfer, graduate and international recruitment, marketing and communications, event planning, Aggie Welcome Orientation programming, family engagement activities, campus visits, etc.

Classification Standard Duties:

As appropriate to the position, reviews and processes Participate in the planning and implementation of annual admission recruitment, application and enrollment strategies. Develop marketing strategies, recruitment publications and communications, travel schedules, collection and analysis of aggregate and disaggregate recruitment and demographic data.

Conduct campus tours, formal and informal presentations, tele-recruiting and e-recruiting. Collaborate with University departments, faculty & staff.. Disseminates pertinent information, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Advises students and families regarding educational opportunities and options, admission, orientation, registration, and other requirements, policies and procedures. May determine Non-Degree and Freshman admissibility to the university or community college.

Extensive travel may be required, depending on recruitment territory assignment. Provides policy interpretation and advisement as appropriate, in accordance with university policy, accreditation standards, and privacy laws.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.; Required Experience:No previous work experience required.; Equivalency: Associates Degree and Two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined; Required Certification/License:None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of current industry best practices, customer service standards and procedures, system-wide admissions policies, standards, and procedures. Knowledge of full spectrum of university academic units, curricula, and programs.

College-level maintenance requirements for student records principles, policies and procedures. Knowledge of national, regional and local student recruitment and retention issues.; SKILLS:Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, especially in public speaking.

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of computer software applications.

Demonstrated time and materials management skills. Effective utilization of student information systems and customer relations management systems.

Database and records management and/or maintenance skills.

General office administrative and secretarial skills.; ABILITIES:Solutions oriented, with a high level of creativity and the ability to analyze complex problems. Ability to work independently, under pressure and with minimum supervision in addition to being a productive member of a team.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to simultaneously plan, deliver and manage multiple activities, make effective administrative/procedural decisions and recommendations. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities. Job Duties and Responsibilities

Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) that interprets and complies with regulations established by the Departments of Homeland Security and State for F and J visa holders. Advise F-1 and J-1 students regarding their responsibilities to comply with immigration regulations while studying, working, and traveling.

Maintain student immigration records in SEVIS to ensure that they remain in status and that the university stays in compliance with its mandatory reporting requirements. Provide Orientation and Immigration advising to visiting J-1 Scholars. Work with Director on complex immigration matters, such as STEM OPT extension applications, Reinstatement, international student health insurance and Change of Status., Contact new international students for documents necessary for Certificate of Eligibility Issuance of Forms I-20 and DS-2019.

Advise academic departments and university units in the sponsorship process of J-1 Scholars. Issue updated I-20s and DS-2019s when a student's degree programs change. Manage students' information in Banner and adds/removes registration holds as appropriate.

Assist with New Student Check-In and Orientation Session. Administer international student scholarships and manage them in Scholar Dollar$. Assist international students in finding solutions to non-immigration-related matters and connect them with appropriate university units. Act as resource/advisor for the International Club.

Participate in international student sponsored events, such as the Branigan Cultural Bazaar, International Festival, and other programming events. Advocate for the needs of international students with university units. Provide data as needed on international student and populations.

Oversee student and part-time workers. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
