Position Summary

This position will oversee a complex portfolio of major Global Health grants and contracts, working closely with several PIs and many external partners. More specifically, they will provide strategic leadership regarding existing grants and emerging opportunities for laboratory and field research projects. They will also manage communication and administrative issues for the diverse team with a broad network of collaborators. They will work with others to plan, manage, and supervise research projects locally and overseas in developing countries.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for the team, aligning with the school's mission and goals.

  • Oversee project budgets and programs in collaboration with the budgeting and grants office, ensuring they reflect the latest trends and advancements in global health, health equity, and health innovation.

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with research partners and DOLF affiliates.

Research Management

  • Provide high-level direction and expert oversight of research initiatives by coordinating with research coordinators, principal investigators, and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure that projects are executed efficiently, in alignment with the research team's strategic vision, goals and timelines, and in compliance with the highest standards of research ethics.

Publications

  • Draft/edit or track DOLF-related publications and abstracts under the supervision of the PIs.

  • Plan and attend meetings with study partners and representatives from funding agencies and policy leaders.

Communication

  • Work with PIs and staff to manage outreach and dissemination activities for study outcomes and results on the website, social media, and newsletter.

Event Coordination and Management

  • Organize annual DOLF partner meetings including funders and global partners.

  • Help plan DOLF seminar series and conference presentations.

Supervision

  • Supervise the administrative team consisting of a Program Manager for Operations, Administrative Coordinator, and Financial Analyst.

Working Conditions

Ability to travel to and from foreign study sites on short notice. Travel time (domestic and foreign) will be up to 25%. Requires the ability to physically travel and work in primitive field settings in developing countries for periods of several weeks at a time. Travel and work in project countries may involve exposure to various hazards. This job includes some work in laboratories with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College level biology/microbiology (biomedical lab work experience)

  • Two years of work experience in infectious diseases project management.

  • Experience with biostatistics.

  • Full fluency in French.

  • 12 months of work experience in lower and middle income countries of Africa.

  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem solving skills.

  • Working knowledge of standard laboratory policies and procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to use information submitted from subprojects to prepare progress reports for advisory panels and donor organization.

  • Ability to work with people with different cultural backgrounds.

  • Ability to work independently and also function as a team member.

  • Excellent writing, editing, research and presentation skills.

  • Excellent computer skills, because MS Excel and Access are used to compile and display project data.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters in Public Health or equivalent degree with at least two years of work experience in public health program management.

  • 12 months of work experience in lower and middle income countries.

  • Experience in project management and coordination of international research projects in multiple settings.

  • Experience communicating with funding organizations and with U.S. government agencies.

  • Full fluency in English(written and spoken).

Salary Range

$57,300.00 - $97,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
