About the Department:
Our department is focusing on modeling and simulation approaches that aid critical decision making throughout the various phases of drug development. Our mission "turning data into knowledge to support decisions" is based on three cornerstones: (1) quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) modeling and drug disease modeling providing mechanistic understanding of pathophysiology and pharmacology, (2) clinical data analytics providing meta-analysis on comparator data, but also exploring machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches on clinical and real world data to better understand patients and their responds to pharmacological treatments, (3) clinical trial simulation integrating model-based and mechanistic knowledge to inform, de-risk and (where possible) replace clinical trials.
The responsibilities of the head of CDA will include:
Establishing and providing leadership to global Clinical Data Analytics group (CDA) in TMED-TI with focus of providing state-of-the-art clinical data analysis, ranging from traditional statistical approaches (e.g. model-based and network based meta-analysis) to artificial intelligence and deep learning (AI&DL) approaches (e.g. RNN)
Manage all activities and internal resources, including science, project issues, staff and budgets
Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other modeling groups within Translational Informatics, as well as with biostatisticians and pharmacometricians outside of TI.
Work collaboratively with internal and external partners (e.g. CRO) to coordinate the planning and execution of day to day deliverables
Maintain a keen awareness of developments in data technologies, analytics, methods and systems especially for AI&DL approaches and analysis of data from wearable devices
Evaluate and coordinate academic collaborations and outsourcing partners (CROs) in area of application of AI&DL for clinical data analysis and for analysis of data from wearable devices
Updating and reporting of relevant results to stakeholder
Experiences in application of AI&DL approaches would be a strong plus
Experience in Phase 1, 2, and 3 drug development. Contributions to regulatory submissions
Strong methodological capabilities and broad clinical experience across different stages of the drug development preferred
Demonstrated leadership experience and demeanor to spearhead implementation of novel methodologies
A change agent with a combination of business, technology, and diplomatic skills, deep knowledge of statistical methods, clinical data analytics and clinical trial simulation
