About this role:

As Airbnb's Global Employee Leaves Program Manager, you will be responsible for the management of Airbnb's leave of absence and time off programs, as well as the specific programs and accommodations for the return to work. Over time, the role may evolve to include some oversight of the workers' compensation program. You will be part of the benefits team which falls under total rewards, reporting to the Senior Benefits Manager of the Americas. The role is global in nature, but has a strong focus on leaves in the United States and Canada.

Where you can make an impact:

  • Own and manage Airbnb's global leave, time off, and return to work programs from a policy and execution perspective

  • Stay current with regulatory changes, and ensure global leave programs are compliant with state and country specific regulations

  • Drive process to create leave and time off programs that function efficiently and provide a world class employee experience that is consistent with Airbnb's culture and design philosophy

  • Responsible for competitive analysis and benchmarking of global leave and time off programs, ensuring programs are innovative and serve as an effective tool to attract and retain talent

  • Identify and recommend program improvements in scalability, automations, design, administration and cost efficiency

  • Create leave communications for employees, managers and talent partners that include available leave programs, leave qualifications and eligibility

  • Develop training for managers and talent partners in combination with a third party leave administrators to provide education on leave program guidelines and processes

  • Manage leave administrators and disability insurance carriers to ensure compliance and best in class customer service, including negotiation of fees and service level agreements.

  • Collaborate with internal talent systems team and third-party administrators to provide requirements for implementation of new policies, regulations and plan rules

  • Collaborate with internal partners on the total rewards team, legal, payroll, talent operations, and risk teams to ensure compliance and adequate delivery of time off and leave programs

  • Serve as point of contact for employee inquiry and exceptions related to leave and time off programs

Who you are:

  • Advanced, applied knowledge of FMLA, ADA and other statutory leave requirements in the US, as well as issues related to leave, time off, and return to work accommodations across the globe

  • Comfortable working in a team environment where collaboration and the knowledge transfer process are critical for success

  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and influence effectively with vendors, employees, internal business partners

  • Up-to-date on industry standards to ensure that Airbnb's leave and time off programs are competitive and compliant in each region

  • Strong program manager with an ability to partner cross functionally and drive results

  • Passionate about providing employees with a world class benefits experience

Ideal background:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum five years of experience managing leave and time off programs for a company with a global workforce

  • Deep expertise of leaves, time off, and return to work programs on a global scale

  • Working knowledge and experience of global health and welfare benefit programs and how they integrate with leave and absence programs

  • Working knowledge of State disability schemes around the world

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, project management and analytical skills and the ability to liaise with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and customer service

  • Ability to work with highly confidential information

  • Demonstrates diligence, strong initiative and is self-managed

  • Intellectually curious and exhibits strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with benefits administration in mergers and acquisitions a plus

  • Proficiency with HR systems, preferably Workday, and excel
