Global Education and Training at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has an opening for a Program Coordinator.

Global Education and Training (GET) is comprised of GET, the Intensive English Institute (IEI), and the Shanghai Office. For over 25 years, GET has provided comprehensive educational and executive training programs to thousands of students and executives from around the world.

GET's programs provide valuable opportunities for individuals and teams to develop global competencies at Illinois and prepare current and future industry leaders to work in diverse, international contexts. For more than 50 years, the IEI has provided a challenging and supportive educational environment where language learners can gain proficiency in English for academic, professional, or other purposes. The Shanghai Office, opened in December 2013, operates as a natural extension of the Illinois-China partnership, serving students, faculty, staff, and alumni through outreach, protocol, and career activities.

Primary Position Function/Summary:

Coordinate, plan and implement educational and training programs offered through Global Education and Training (GET).

Statement of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan and administer on-site or remote management for GET in-person, online, or hybrid training and educational programs including: proposal and budget preparation and management; schedule development; faculty, external speaker, and interpreter recruitment; and organization of seminars, field trips, cultural and social events.

  • Provide hands-on or virtual facilitation and delivery of selected program content. Accompany groups on site visits to regional businesses and cultural activities.

  • Communicate program planning logistics with all stakeholders, including international partner organizations and participants, in a timely fashion to ensure tight collaboration and coordination

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate GET translators and employees working on GET programs.

  • Monitor and track program budgets and staffing needs.

  • Create and distribute program evaluations; meet with participants, faculty and staff to gather qualitative feedback on programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience coordinating educational or training programs. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a globally oriented team environment.

Preferred: (Successful candidates will have):

  • Bachelor's degree in business, international studies, or a related field.

  • Experience working on executive education programs, grants or sponsored projects, or international mobility programs.

  • Experience in budgeting/accounting.

  • Experience at the University of Illinois.

  • Professional experience in an environment that includes working with international students or international professionals.

  • Event planning and management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in an effective and efficient manner, both in writing and verbally.

  • Strong organizational skills including the capacity to set priorities and manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to work well with people from other cultures.

Environmental Demands:

  • Position involves working occasional nights and weekends.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION:

This is a full-time 100% Civil Service Program Coordinator position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date.

Salary will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, skills, and internal equity considerations. The minimum salary for this position is $51,350.00.

Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.

Civil Service employees may earn up to 28 days of vacation leave per year, depending on length of service. The University offers 11 annual paid holidays, 12 cumulative sick leave days, plus an additional 13 non-cumulative sick leave days, if needed, each year. Health insurance is available to employees (with the option to purchase coverage for spouse and dependents), required participation in State Universities Retirement System (SURS), with several options for participation in additional retirement plans.
