The Global Dean's primary purpose is to support student success through retention efforts that contribute to student population growth while fostering a collaborative regional culture.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • A Global Dean is a member of the academic team designated to support the students of Strayer University's Global Region. The Global Dean partners with the Global Leadership team and is responsible for creating an environment that supports a quality educational experience for our students and a culture of success for employees.

  • Actively supports all regional student enrollment and student retention efforts as well as collaborates with admissions staff on enrollment strategies. Helps new students maximize their previous transfer credit, training and work experience so they can complete their degree as quickly and economically as possible.

  • Supports the Global staff and University support teams in the Global Operations center (ie: Inbound, Chat, etc.).

  • Actively updates and trains staff housed as part of Global Operations on Academic Policy and Process.

  • Actively monitors and audits all student enrollments to ensure students are selecting courses that match program efficiencies and Academic policy.

  • Resolves student concerns and addresses issues related to staff performance, student behavior, and regional operations.

  • Partners with the regional leadership to conduct effective online new student orientations and introduction to online learning.

  • Responsible for creating, leading and delivering specialized online seminars designed to educate students on specific topics to enable individual academic success.

  • Provides students with advising via an outreach strategy specifically designed to support students as they progress through their programs.

  • Assesses student academic standing and develops academic recovery plans where appropriate to support academically suspended students throughout the University.

  • Support adherence to Academic policy by developing and maintaining, reports and audits for University wide stakeholders.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution required.

Work Experience:

  • At least three years of academic advising or counseling experience strongly preferred.

  • At least three years of experience in customer service strongly preferred.

  • At least three years of student service experience strongly preferred.

  • At least one year of teaching experience preferred.

  • Ability to lead under pressure with integrity and to follow through on details.

  • Ability to manage people, processes and/or projects.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent problem solving ability.

  • Exhibit sound judgment and accountability in making decisions.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to interpret and act on various management reports.

  • Proficient with the University tutoring and academic services and resources (e.g. Blackboard, eLU, SUNOW, iCampus).

  • Fluent in academic support services, policies, and requirements.

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain exemplary working relationships with coaches, faculty, staff and administrators.

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills as well as effective listening skills.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize duties.

  • Strong background in working with a diverse group of coaches, staff, and managers.

Other:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of time

  • Travel via plane, car, and metro is required to perform this job

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

  • Must have the flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant including evenings and weekends.

  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor

  • Access information using a computer

  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain

  • Effectively cope with stressful situations

  • Strong mental acuity

The Emma Eccles Jones Nursing Research Center's mission is to provide exceptional centralized support services that facilitate faculty success with research development, grant submission and management, and scholarly activity. This position will support the Associate Dean for Research and PhD Program. The Executive Assistant will serve as a liaison for the Associate Dean within the College of Nursing and to campus leadership, faculty, staff, and students. The Executive Assistant will provide administrative support for several programs overseen by the Associate Dean, including the College's intramural funding program, special events, and science communication activities. Responsibilities This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
