Your team responsibilities

The Global Controller will be a key leader within MSCI, playing an influential and impactful role on the management team and touching most aspects of the company.

We seek a high energy business leader who enjoys a high growth and fast pace environment.

The position will have direct responsibility for the largest portion of the finance organization, including all aspects of firmwide accounting, financial reporting, financial and treasury operations, finance transformation and MP&A integration.

This individual must be a proactive manager, driving a team of senior direct reports across commercial controllership, corporate accounting, SEC reporting, technical policy, consolidations and systems, data analytics and reporting.

This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is an integral partner to and regularly collaborates with the President, Chief Technology Officer and the Chief Client Officer, playing a key part in the firms most important commercial transactions and corporate initiatives such as acquisitions, regulatory compliance, emerging reporting areas such as ESG and cross-functional transformation projects.

Your key responsibilities

MSCI is seeking a truly unique individual - one who has a track record of establishing and maintaining the highest level of controls, while also demonstrating the requisite strategic, business, commercial, and controllership expertise

Successful leaders at MSCI also demonstrate a highly entrepreneurial spirit and passion for business, which is very much part of the firm's culture.

The individual must be a builder, who is versatile across many disciplines, and a charismatic leader who is focused on mentorship and development.

The candidate will have:

  • An established track record as a public company PAO, with extensive experience in accounting leadership within global, publicly traded financial services, financial technology, SaaS/software, broader technology companies, and/or leading public accounting firms.

  • Successfully operated in a fast-paced environment requiring a meaningful amount of agility.

  • This person will be comfortable pivoting and changing course very quickly.

  • Experience building and overseeing a large global

  • The presence and gravitas to engage with and influence C-suite executives, senior clients and other external constituencies including investors, regulators and industry bodies.

  • An ability to stay strategic but when needed, can work in a detailed-oriented environment and to interact with various constituencies internally and externally.

  • Superior written and oral communication skills.

  • CPA required; MBA or CFA a plus.
