Job Summary

  • The Research Technician is tasked with providing detailed testing results and fabrication support to advance sector projects associated with Polyolefin Product and Application Development, Specialty Product Development, Intermediates and Basic Chemicals.

  • The open position is located at the Baytown Technology and Engineering Complex and is based on an 8 hour work day.

Primary Job Functions

  • Maintains lab safety, housekeeping, and security

  • Performs advanced scientific experiments in accordance with business directives

  • Interfaces with internal customers on a daily basis

  • Operates and maintains analytical and physical properties testing equipment

  • Operates large industrial size fabrication equipment as needed

  • Supports polymerization catalysts and conducts wet chemistry experiments as needed

  • Ensures data reliability by adhering to quality objectives

  • Prepares and tests samples by following detailed international testing standards to provide high quality data

  • Calculates, analyzes and interprets data

  • Uploads data to the work order system for review by Ph.D. Scientists and Engineers

  • Efficiently manages their work request backlog and turnaround time

  • Performs methods development work as needed for product development

  • Solves analytical problems and leads efforts to introduce new technologies to support the business

  • Schedules and stewards third party instrument calibrations as needed

  • Performs internal calibrations and monitors statistical quality control charts for quality compliance

  • Manages sample inventory, handling, shipping, storage, and disposal

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or other science or engineering discipline or relevant equivalent work experience

  • Capable of safe, reliable, and independent laboratory work given review of literature, framing of problem, and regular direction

  • Excellent team working skills

  • Ability to learn new techniques as needed

  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions

  • Able to safely work in a high demand environment

  • Provides high quality and reproducible testing results

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Concern for accuracy and precision

  • Above average proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent communication (written/oral) and interpersonal skills

VIEW JOBS 12/1/2018 7:16:35 PM 2019-03-01T19:16 <p>BROAD FUNCTION<br /> The Regeneration Operator regenerates resin, prepares mobile equipment for use in the field, performs quality control checks on mobile equipment before dispatch and is generally responsible for tasks performed by Plant Operations.<br /> <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES<br /> • Regenerates ion exchange resins and other media utilizing established procedures.<br /> • Prepares mobile units to specification, which includes proper resin loading, equipment checks, supplying/outfitting, the unit with tools, test kits, meters, pumps and other required materials.<br /> • Responsible for general housekeeping in work area, facility and mobile units.<br /> • Performs quality control checks of the mobile units prior to dispatch.<br /> • Completes appropriate shift and unit paperwork.<br /> • Operates forklift.<br /> • Handles chemicals as part of the regeneration process as well as oversees chemical vendor off loading to tanks and transfers. Chemicals typically are NaOH, HCL, NaCL and others as required.<br /> • Occasional customer site assignments for “on site” regenerations, equipment installation, etc.<br /> • Plant Operation assignments as assigned by Plant Manager, Regeneration Manager or Shift Leads<br /> • The Plant Operator vacancy is an ENTRY LEVEL, non-exempt position.<br /> <br /> QUALIFICATIONS<br /> • High School Diploma or equivalent such as G.E.D.<br /> • Ability to work Days and Night rotating 12 hours shifts<br /> • Ability and willingness to perform physical duties such as lifting, climbing, and manual dexterity.<br /> • Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities.<br /> • May require the occasional site assignments for customer regenerations; installation, etc.<br /> • Forklift certification required within 90 days of employment.<br /> • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process.<br /> • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.<br /> • Must have a good driving record.<br /> • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.<br /> • If currently a GE employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 12 months and have at least a satisfactory performance rating.</p> Arete Technologies Inc Baytown TX
