GIS Technician

Who You Are:

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented GIS Technician to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be to collect field data through in field data entry.

This position requires incumbent to be a team player, be tech savvy, and have strong situational awareness skills. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in an outdoor Florida environment. This role will contribute to the mapping of the FDOT highway lighting and drainage assets. What You'll Do:

Data Collection: Collect/Inventory Turnpike Assets (Light Poles, Drains, Fence line, sound wall, etc.) in Smart Phone/Tablet using software.

Typical day as a GIS Field Data Technician:

• Daily Site Safety Meeting: Attend and participate in daily Safety Toolbox Talks at the office.

• Preparation and Planning: Reviewing schedule, project requirements, and the locations you'll be visiting for data collection.
  
  Ensure that work phone/Tablet is charged and in good working condition. Ensure software is working on provided device.

• Departure to the Field: You head out to your first field location from site office in company vehicle. Field environment will be on the FDOT State Road.

• Data Collection: Upon reaching the designated area, check environment that it is safe and begin collecting data points. You will be collecting/ inventorying data related to Turnpike Assets.

• Documentation and Reporting: Once you're back in office, verbal report to supervisor on field activities will be done. You note any challenges faced, solutions implemented, and relevant observations.

What You'll Bring:

• Education: High School Graduate, or Associate degree with study emphasis in Civil Engineering/Technology, Geography, Information Technology, GIS or geoinformatics, or a related field.

• Technical skills: Comfortable using Smart Phone/ Tablet and Mobile applications,

• Situational Awareness: This position is one where individual will be in the field, must be aware of surroundings.

• Team player: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, sharing knowledge and expertise, and supporting colleagues.

• Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, technologies, and workflows.

Location Requirements

The position will primarily work onsite in Ocoee, FL.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $18.00/hr
