Your opportunity

As a GIS Technician n the Traffic and Travel Information Product Unit you will be responsible for validating customer feedback involving traffic incidents, road closures and other relevant traffic information. You will use external sources and internal tools to improve the quality of our products. The products you help create are sold to our business-to-business partners, the automotive industry, governments and over the air to drivers around the world. You will directly contribute to their customer satisfaction.

We are looking for an independent self-starter able to personally own the following activities:

  • You will use external sources, customer feedback and internal tools to incrementally improve the quality of our traffic information databases.

  • You will maintain a high level of knowledge about our products to understand the customer experience.

  • You will resolve business-to-business and customer care escalations. You will also champion the service towards other internal departments.

  • You will contribute to improving current systems by performing system testing and advising on improvements to the console you work on, flagging any bugs to engineers.

  • You will be an expert on legislation in the countries and states which you moderate; proactively searching for new information and communicating to relevant stakeholders.

  • You may perform occasionally drive test in the USA and primarily in the Tomtom office location area to assure end to end customer experience is aligned to the quality of traffic information.

Your profile

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with some relevant experience

  • Knowledge and experience of driving habits, uses and practice in the USA

  • Technical affinity. MS Excel skills. Data-base management experience

  • ArcGis, FME and other geographic tools are an advantage

  • Fluent in English (company language). Good communication skills both written and spoken. Additional languages are an advantage. Spanish is a plus.

  • Analytical thinking

  • Able to work autonomously as reporting and all meetings will be remote

  • You are passionate about working within the Team, supporting other Team members, taking advice and feedback from others

  • Think creatively, be curious, bring a unique perspective and approach to problem-solving!

Product Unit

The Traffic and Travel Information Product Unit is part of the TomTom Location Technology Products Technology Unit and is responsible for developing traffic and travel related connected services. Road conditions and congestion are changing constantly and as a result sophisticated algorithms are required to provide industry leading products. To ensure the very best customer experience engineering is complimented by a Content Operations team, which moderates real-time reports about the changing conditions. Our unit delivers off-the-shelf traffic and travel components that are easy to integrate and that are validated in our own consumer products.
