Marana is the fastest growing community in Southern Arizona and the 2nd largest municipality in Pima County. The Town was recently recognized as one of the ten most successful cities in Arizona. Marana lies approximately 20 minutes northwest of downtown Tucson and 75 minutes southeast of Phoenix. The Town of Marana is seeking a full-time term-limited temporary GIS Technician to work in the Technology Services Department. This position performs technical work for routine acquisition and maintenance of digital data of limited to moderate difficulty. This position is expected to start after May 1, 2019 and last for a term of up to 12 months. The individual selected will be eligible for benefits and will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System.
Hiring Rate: $17.84
Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday-Friday
Examples of Duties
Maintains all mapping, cartography and computer-assisted drafting/geographic information systems as they relate to the maintenance of digital files and computer applications; prepares exhibits and assists those responsible for presentations to Commissions and to Council; prepares technical reports and materials for use in presentations.
Participates in gathering and/or compiling geospatial data for routine maintenance and special research.
Maintains physical changes to geographical information system (GIS) databases and spatial representations.
Reviews incoming data for accuracy and quality before updating.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, database reports, as-built drawings, architectural drawings, staff reports, legal descriptions, ownership data, utility reports, aerial photographs, technical manuals, maps, policies, procedures, directories, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Associates degree or vocational/technical degree with training emphasis in geographical information systems (GIS) or associated field.
Over one year experience and/or training that includes geographical information system (GIS) operations, computerized mapping, cartography, or associated field.
A combination of related education and experience will be considered.
Must pass a fingerprint clearance background check.
