Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The incumbent performs assignments under the guidance and direction of the Director of Technology through the GIS Coordinator. The incumbent assists in collecting, creating, and maintaining GIS mapping records, GPS field data, ESRI ArcGIS databases, layers, and shape files for multiple departments in the City of Gallup, including updating and maintaining the City of Gallup maps. The incumbent will scan, catalog, and maintain all records in the plan vault containing annexation plats, subdivision plats, as-built drawings, construction plans, etc. The incumbent assists and will be the designated backup for the assigning, maintaining, and issuing City of Gallup postal street addresses, tracking the correspondence, maintaining the Naviline land management system, ESRI ArcGIS databases, layers, and shape files for the Metro dispatch E911 system. The incumbent will assist GIS personnel in other departments with software and data updates, helpdesk functions, developing procedures, and creating data structures for new projects. Perform occasional field work utilizing GPS equipment to collect data.

Additional Information

STARTING HOURLY PAY: $22.10 p/h

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• HS diploma or equivalent (GED)

• Two (2) years of experience in GIS software, including ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro

• Two (2) years of experience with application software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat, FileZilla, and Google Apps

• Two (2) years of experience creating and maintaining PDF files and folders in a network environment

• One (1) year of experience with the utilization of network drives for file storage/backup and scanning/copying documents

• Valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must meet the City's insurability requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science, or a closely related field

• One (1) year of experience maintaining, updating, and securing Windows 2016+ servers

• Two (2) years of experience in ArcGIS Pro 2.4 & above creating feature classes and geodatabases

• Two (2) years of experience in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.4 & above installing, updating, and maintaining enterprise databases; must have the same expertise managing Enterprise Portal.

• Proficiency with GIS database planning, design, and implementation

• Proficiency in working with large-format scanning, tagging, and organizing

• Certifications in the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of ESRI ArcGIS may substitute for one (1) Year of ESRI ArcGIS experience.
