GIS Risk Analyst
GIS Risk Analyst Natural Gas
The GIS Risk Analyst will compile information from various sources, incorporate the data into a GIS based utility risk management system, and analyze results to understand and spatialize threats and risks inherent to pipeline operations. Additionally, the Risk Analyst will use geographic and tabular data to identify, track, and mitigate potential threats to the distribution system.
The GIS Risk Analyst position provides technical and analytical support for the Distribution Integrity Management Program. An analyst:
Performs analysis of distribution pipeline data to determine threats and risks inherent to pipeline operations and assists in developing mitigation plans to reduce those risks.
Review, update, and incorporate raw data into risk management systems and analyses.
Utilizes a variety of systems including, but not limited to GIS, SQL, and other analytical software.
Performs advanced queries to obtain data from various systems across the Company and uses that data to create meaningful information and reports to identify trends, patterns, or anomalies.
Effectively maintains large volumes of data.
Designs and delivers analytic services for the Distribution Integrity Management Program.
Ability to consolidate information from disparate systems into GIS
Researches and promotes new technologies and understand their applications for increased analysis.
Understands the facilities and functions of the natural gas distribution system.
Supports the development of a comprehensive asset data management strategy and systems integration strategy for enterprise asset data.
Provides specialized queries, maps and reports.
Forges collaborative relationships with Operations and Information Technology departments.
Develops standard analytic processes for assessing gas and other asset performance (leak trending, material performance, replacement program effectiveness, thematic mapping services, and specialized data services).
Monitors and reports progress of plan initiatives and strategies.
Develops, documents, and delivers on workplace objectives. Creates supplemental training aids to improve work order quality.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, GIS, or related field
OR relevant educational and work experience
Related Work Experience:
2 years' experience with ESRI GIS products
Experience with Python and SQL within a gas utility, pipeline transmission, or other energy related field to identify and reduce risks and assure compliance.
Ability to explain and defend processes, analyses, and reports to various stakeholders.
Experience supporting the development of applications related to asset data, asset performance, compliance assurance, operational efficiency, and/or risk
Exposure to integrity programs or other failure analyses
