OVERVIEW:

The application development team supporting the Department of Transportation is looking to hire a motivated Information Technology professional who can lead application development efforts while supporting a variety of applications for our MaineDOT business clients and represent our C.A.R.E. values in all that they do. ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:

This is advanced GIS work related to the refactoring and maintenance of our Geoprocessing Framework written in Python and integrated with an ESRI-based enterprise infrastructure. The position requires strong programming skills in Python and ArcPy and general GIS skills in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server/Enterprise and ArcGIS Online. Strong data analysis skills specific to spatial data and more explicitly related to linear referenced data are also considerations. Additional programming tasks may include SQL development and interfacing with REST API's using Python. Candidates are expected to have strong problem-solving and organizational skills, be able to work independently and in a team environment and interact effectively with our business partners.

You will also have an opportunity to improve the skills of your team by adding your experience and expertise in a collaborative working environment. This position is a hybrid remote/onsite position. The onsite location is in Augusta, Maine and the remote location must be within the state of Maine.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Your job as a GIS Programmer Analyst will have the primary responsibility of helping the team refactor our critical Geoprocessing Framework written in Python. In addition, you may work on our GIS Web Service upgrades, our automated ArcGIS Online integration, or our Linear Referencing System upgrades. You will use your problem-solving skills and creativity to help organize and streamline the data and processes required to modernize the MaineDOT Spatial Program. Work will require strong verbal and written communication skills and interfacing with business partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences or an equivalent industry certification
  • OR-
  • an Associates Degree in Computer Information Science with 1 year application development experience
  • OR-
  • 2 years application development experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in the following areas: ArcGIS Pro, Python/ArcPy, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Oracle SQL and Linear Reference Systems (LRS).
