Summary

Under general supervisor of the Combined Emergency Communications Center Director, this position will assist in the development and maintenance of a point file that will be implemented for use with the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Emergency Notification Systems share by all dispatch centers. This position will lead GIS related projects which drive specific responses for Law and Fire incidents.

  • Developandcoordinateacompetency-basedtrainingfortheregion

  • Serveasaneducationalresourcefortheallcountyemergencyservicegroups

  • Keepcurrentwithtrendsinindustry,research,andnewtechnologiesforallhazardsresponse

  • Engages in conferences, trainings, boards, and committees with the technology vendors used by all of the public safety organizations

  • ServeasliaisonwithregionalGIS/technologygroups

  • Developsmethodsforsystemdatacollectionandanalysis

  • DevelopsefficientGISworkflowprocessesamongnumerousdatasources

  • Regularly maintains data, initiates updates and provides overall governance of the GIS infrastructure that is necessary to route responses from Law, Fire and EMS agencies dispatched by multiple CECC partner agencies

  • EntersandupdatesthegeometryandattributevaluesofGISdatafromsourcedocuments

  • Identifiesandresolvesdataerrorsandconflictsusingappropriatemethods

  • Assistsinperforming,processing,andintegratingacquiredfielddataintotheGIS

  • Interpretsandanalyzesaerialphotography,makingcomparisonstootherspatialdatasources

  • Performstheconvertingofspatialdatatoensuredataintegrity,security,andadherencetomost current standards

  • ExportsGISdataforuseinothersystemsorfordistribution

  • Participates in CAD/Mobile/RMS system testing and upgrades

  • Maintainsqualitydatamanagement,electronicfileorganizationanddataintegrity,includingmetadata

  • Performsqualitycontrolofspatial(GIS)data,includingthedevelopment,implementation,andmonitoring of methodology and standards for developing spatial data

  • Attendalldrills,trainingandmeetingsasrequired.

  • IncoordinationwithOperations,implementsprocessimprovements

  • SharesGISdata,analyses,andprocessimprovementstrategieswithallstaff

  • Coordinateeffortswithandfosterpositiverelationshipswithallemergencyservicegroupsinthe county and region as well as work with the local industries

  • Coordinateeffortswithandfosterpositiverelationshipswithallemergencyservicegroupsinthe county and region as well as work with the local industries

  • Assistswithprofessionaldevelopmentofstaffandofficers

  • Reviews,evaluates,andrecommendsfuturehardware,software,andcomponentneeds

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography/GIS, Science, Engineering, Public Safety, Information Management, Computer Science, or relevant field or at least 4 years professional experience in GIS.

  • ComputerAidedDispatch(CAD)experience,preferred

  • Public Safety GIS experience, preferred

Other Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • MaintaincurrentTexasdriver'slicense

  • Maintain acceptable driving record allowing vehicle operation according to current Hays County insurance requirements
