We are a growing team of professional Planners, Architects and Landscape Architects tasked with the implementation of the University Master Plan and its associated documents. GIS Analyst: as the primary responsibility of this position, the successful candidate will be proficient in utilizing GIS to design, implement and manage geospatial data. This will include 3+ years of experience working with this software to create, present, edit, store, and manage geospatial data.

Designer: as the secondary responsibility of this position, the successful candidate will have training and professional experience working to create concepts and design solutions for various projects including but not limited to basic web design, branding, marketing materials, digital assets, and presentations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to think critically, work well with others, be organized, be collaborative and be innovate.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage geospatial data and databases, including master planning tools.

  • Obtain, compile, modify, and analyze GIS data from a variety of sources, including construction drawings, aerial imagery, field collection and the University of Utah's geodatabase.

  • Create and maintain files, records, and documentation of relevant data while following established organizational processes.

  • Assist in Campus Planning data requests from both internal university groups as well as external parties including consultants.

  • Work with others to identify specific project requirements and/or spatial data needs, develop processes to collect and maintain data, and provide training on use of GIS tools as needed.

  • Produce mapping products tailored to specific project or customer needs, including static and interactive maps, online mapping/data tools, and other data visualization graphics.

  • Integrate data from various relational database systems.

  • Work to manage the mapping needs of the Physical Enterprise Planning and Development (PEPD) dept.

  • Work with University Marketing and Communications to manage web content for the PEPD website

  • Work to enhance the image and accessibility of the PEPD department through graphical means, standardizations, processes and protocols

  • Work with Campus Planning and Real Estate Administration team members to improve practices and deliver projects

  • Stays up-to-date on mapping software and relevant GIS tools.

Preferences:

  • Bachelors degree in geography, planning, computer science, graphic design or related field or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education).

  • 3+ years of experience in a related area

  • Proficient in ArcGIS Pro and the ESRI ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS online and/or ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal and related applications.

  • Proficient with Adobe Create Cloud software particularly the Illustrator and Photoshop applications

  • Familiar with an enterprise GIS system and versioning

  • Proficient with querying, analyzing and editing geospatial data

  • Familiar with web development

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, or related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Minimum three years of experience in a related area required.
