SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Atlanta, Georgia Geospatial group as a GIS Analyst.

Major Function/Role:

Under supervision, applies technical professional proficiency to GIS studies and the coordination of related activities.

Job Duties:

Performs work which involves conventional GIS tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning to carry out diversified projects or phases of a single project. Able to detect problems in using standardized procedures due to changes in client needs or project direction. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and may include:

  • Conducts data gathering, conversion and analysis of GIS data.

  • Prepares data documentation or metadata for GIS projects.

  • Prepares maps and exhibits with GIS data sets.

  • Participates in client needs analyses.

  • Maintains continued knowledge of technology developments in the GIS field and the use of GIS software.

  • Monitors quality control within area of responsibility.

  • Assists Senior GIS Analysts in certain aspects of project management.

  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-18T00:00 Cox Communications is searching for a OSP Design Technical Analyst III, to analyze designs, create cost estimates, produce maps, and geocode data. The OSP Design Technical Analyst will pull data from multiple sources such as GNIS, GNIS plot repository, Network Data Warehouse, ICOMS, Edgehealth, and Market Insight to analyze data and create thematic maps for our Internal and our External Customers. This analyst will conduct strategic network assessments based upon emerging network trends, and new technologies. They will be responsible for creating accurate OSP maps, spreadsheets, and detailed electronic construction prints. This individual will also support BCP team with any maps needed. In addition, the analyst will perform cost and design analysis for Cox Business and OSP designs. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: * Prepare thematic maps using MapInfo. * Prepare and present maps and data analysis to internal and external customers * Manage special design analysis projects as needed * Provide ongoing enterprise wide field support as needed for geocoded data using MapMarker. * Independently analyze Design locations. * Travel required – 20% or as needed Minimum * 2 or more years of experience in Coax and Fiber Design Analysis * Strong knowledge of radio frequency, power design, small cell design, coax network design, network powering, and fiber network design. * Knowledge of HFC and FTTH architectures, as well as a good understanding of fiber optics planning, design, technology and operations. Knowledgable of PON and RFoG technology and good understanding of design and familiar with SCTE, Telecordia, IEEE specifications and industry related guidelines. * Effective written and verbal communications. * Proficient with Microsoft Excel, MapInfo, Mapmarker, and Shapefiles (Lode Data and GNIS a plus). * Builds good internal and external working relationships. * Dependable, self-motivated, resourcefull, and has the ability to work independently. * Professional demeanor to represent the team at project meetings at Cox offices or client site. * Excellent time management, organization, attention to detail, quality orientation, written, verbal and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization Preferred * AS/AA or Technical Certification in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Design, Drafting, electronics, civil engineering). * Certification in GIS technologies or electrical engineering.
