In the 2023-24 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating almost 3,000 students, kindergarten through eleventh grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida:

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.
4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am
3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm
3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am
2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm.
Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings.
*This doesn't include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks two Lead Teachers for Gifted education that will work with students across all four KIPP Jacksonville schools. One regional Gifted teacher will focus on K-5 and the other will focus on grades 6-12. The two teachers will provide pull-out services for students that qualify for Gifted education programming and help support Gifted testing for students that may qualify for programming. The lead teachers for Gifted will be responsible for delivering effective and rigorous instruction that is differentiated for students' specific learning needs.
The Gifted teachers will report to the Manager for Student Support Services. The two Gifted teachers will work typical lead teacher hours for their given schools that they support. Ideal candidates are familiar with and have experience with Gifted education and are excellent at codifying systems as they go since our in-region program will be brand new.
This is a full-time position that works closely in our existing special education department. All teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by a manager and school leader.
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools aims to expand our support of students and families with grant funding. The Gifted Teacher positions will be temporary in that the roles are 100% grant funded by the ESSER II or III allocation. While it is possible funding for this position may be allocated in future years, it is now only funded by this specific grant through June 30, 2024.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Write Gifted Educational Plans and hold meetings as required by federal law.
Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons that, aligned with the school's curriculum in literacy, math, science, and social studies and that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
Implement, by instruction and action, the region's philosophy of education, curriculum, and instructional goals and objectives
Utilize diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic and leadership standards
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
COMPENSATION

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree
Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification Elementary Education K-6 for elementary and 6-12 in a subject area for secondary
Gifted Endorsement reflected on teaching certificate
At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in a Gifted program
