Gifted & Talented (Gt) And Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, And Mathematics (Steam)

Position Title: Gifted & Talented (GT) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM): Middle School Teacher

Qualifications:

• Valid Arkansas teaching license

• GT endorsement or in process of getting GT Endorsement

• Certified in or will certify in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) training

Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal & Director of Gifted Programs

Terms of Employment: 190 days with benefits according to Siloam Springs School

Board policies

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Deliver appropriate programming for identified gifted students

• Maintain all documentation needed for state monitoring of the middle school GT program

• Conduct testing for the gifted & talented program

• Collaborate with classroom teachers

• Plan units of study that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students

• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly

• Create positive educational climate for students that is conducive to learning

• Establish classroom behavior expectations and procedures that create a climate where all members are valued

• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress

• Effectively implement district initiatives

• Attend state GT conference

• Plan and prepare engaging, integrated lessons for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) aligned to Arkansas standards which enhance and support regular Science classroom instruction

• Certified in or become certified to teach PLTW courses

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations

• Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors

• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities

• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation

• Serve on committees as assigned

• Remain current on instructional practices in education
