GI Technician

Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates (AAGA), a Covenant Physician Partner, located in beautiful Annapolis, Maryland, is looking for a Fulltime GI Technician to join our talented and growing team.

About the Opportunity

Under general direction from the Center Manager, the GI Tech is responsible for the proper cleaning and high-level disinfection and maintenance of all video endoscopes and other accessories used in the GI Endoscopy suites.

This role is also responsible for delegated patient care duties by assisting the physician and staff nurse during procedures.

Other duties include:

• Daily preventative maintenance, monitoring and record keeping for equipment that has been sterilized and/or high-level disinfected.

• Correctly setting up GI suite and ensuring that all equipment is functional prior to procedure.

• Assisting the physician with assigned GI procedures (ie, EGD, Colonoscopy, etc.), these will be performed under the direct supervision of the attending GI endoscopist.

• Must be able to operate the Ultrasonic unit in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines.

• Must be able to enter patient-related data into the endoscopic databases and the center's electronic health record (as applicable).

About the Candidate

Minimum Requirements:

• High school education or equivalent, or certified surgical technician.

• Demonstrates strong comprehension of asepsis and sterile technique.

• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with physicians and all medical professionals.

• Current certification in BLS.
