Coastal Endoscopy Center has an immediate need for a full time GI Tech!

Job Summary: The GI Tech is responsible for the provision of care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse. Provides a centralized distribution and control of supplies and equipment to the facility. In charge of shipping and receiving, stores prepared articles and supplies in designated areas. Maintains and tracks inventory according to facility procedures.

  • Must be able to operate the scope washer and all other equipment associated with equipment processing in the GI endoscopy setting.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the proper cleaning, high level disinfection and proper storage of all scopes and accessories.

  • Must be able to monitor all disinfectants used for equipment processing and keep accurate daily log records for effective concentration.

  • Maintain daily efficiency and efficacy logs of reprocessing equipment and cycles according to infection control guidelines.

  • Follows established guidelines for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization of all equipment according to product specific policy and procedure.

  • Knowledgeable in the use of all equipment and its maintenance.

  • Assist with monitoring and managing scope repairs.

  • Knowledgeable in the importance of following reprocessing guidelines to assure prevention of transmission of infectious diseases.

  • Is able to correctly set-up the room and equipment prior to procedures.

  • Assists the RN by receiving and discharging patients to and from Center.

  • Under direct supervision of an RN, assists will all aspects of patient care as needed and

  • Ensures patient safety.

  • Ability to correctly document required information on patient's chart as needed.

  • Communicates with the preoperative, procedure room and recovery room nurse any problems that arise, as pertains to appropriate caring for the patient.

  • Ability to take vital signs, record and document in pt. chart, RN to assist.

  • Is able to identify and report to the RN, Charge Nurse and/or Nurse Manager, any malfunctioning equipment

  • Dispose of biohazardous waste according to policy.

  • Adheres to OSHA program. Recognizes and reports potential safety issues.

  • Adheres to all written policies and procedures in place at the Center.

  • Supports and actively contributes to organizational cost-saving initiatives.

  • Assists in monitoring of adequate inventory of medical and linen supplies needed for daily

  • Assists with restocking of clinical area.

  • Uses computer systems, for certain functions, as needed.

  • Demonstrates willingness to learn new procedures and/or tasks.

  • Communicates to peers changes and requests of physicians.

  • Inspects all instruments and accessory equipment, especially when cleaning and storing, to make sure they are in working order before next use.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Is familiar with supplies and equipment used in the GI Endoscopy Setting.

  • Assists the RN in positioning of patients in the preoperative, procedural and recovery area as needed.

  • Provides safe transference of the patient to and from all areas of the endoscopy department as

  • Ability to assist in procedure when needed and/or obtain second RN for assistance if need.

  • Participates in the orientation of new GI Technicians.

  • Ability to assist in collection of data needed for Quality Improvement Studies.

  • Maintains good rapport with fellow employees and physicians.

  • Treats others with dignity and respect.

  • Must be very flexible in work hours.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports Scottsdale Endoscopy Center administrative decisions. This includes conduct in executing duties in accordance with all policies and regulations.

  • Demonstrates understanding of HIPPA policies and maintains confidential patient information and the patient's right to privacy.

  • Compliance with all Center policy and procedures.

Required Skills:

  • BLS Certification.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.

  • 1 year of GI experience preferred.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented and meticulous.
