To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: Enhancing patient care and assisting licensed personnel in delivery of care through the most productive utilization of the individual's skills.


  • Participate in orientation for preceptor ship of associates.

  • Properly maintains Metricide OPA Tracking Record/Metricide OPA Test Strip Record/Test strip new bottle record/Test strip daily record/Tracking of Custom Ultrasonic Reprocessors/Tracking of leak testing and disinfection of Endoscopes/Records Endoscope Storage closet cleaning.

  • Consistently follows universal precautions and wears proper PPE per set ASGE/SGNA standards.

  • Demonstrates proper daily maintenance of equipment to ensure proper reprocessing of endoscopes. Assists in management and troubleshooting equipment failures.

  • Follows proper procedure for service and/or repair of endoscopes, accessories and Custom Ultrasonic Reprossors.

  • Follows manufacturer guidelines for leak testing of endoscopes, manual cleaning and reprocessing of endoscopes and accessories to provide high level disinfection.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must hold current AHA BLS healthcare provider completion card prior to start date and maintain.

  • Knowledge of infection control standards and SGNA guidelines for the processes done in the decontamination room, preferred.

  • Know and understand manufacturer guidelines for endoscope reprocessing, preferred.


  • Exposure to bio hazardous waste, substances and unknown diseases.

  • Sitting and standing for extensive periods of time.

  • Frequent lifting, pulling and reaching. Ability to carry light to heavy objects.

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. unassisted up to 6 times daily.

  • Must be able to stand, walk bend and stoop for 90% of assigned shift.

VIEW JOBS 11/26/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-24T00:00 POSITION SUMMARY: To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: performing a variety of technical activities related to patient care, as well as support activities in the Endoscopy department under the direction of the R.N. Technical activities may include performing in the GI Assistant role within the Endoscopy Department. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Follows infection control policy, utilizes personal protection devices as indicated in the universal precautions policy. Cleans scopes / equipment following appropriate infection control procedures. * Demonstrates knowledge of and follows current policies and procedures and SGNA standards (to be measures by written test on SGNA standards. * Accurately handles and identifies specimens properly; demonstrates care of specimen as required. * Properly handles and cares for all instruments and equipment checks for proper function and completeness. Reports faulty equipment per policy. * Anticipates needs of physician in the procedure room, passing instruments/scopes, and supplies as needed. * Checks GI suite to ensure a clean environment. Assists with cleaning during room turnover and terminal cleaning as necessary. Cleans and restocks GI rooms daily. * Participates in a performance improvement activity to improve department, patient or physician satisfaction. * Uses computer system effectively as needed for daily activities, such as printing endoscopy schedule. * Attend in-services, inventory and mandatory meetings. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: * High School graduate or equivalent * 1-2 years experience as Surgical Technologist or GI assistant preferred * Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. * Able to speak, read and write in the English language. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to assist with procedures. * Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range. * Must be able to lift, turn, pull, and push equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift. * Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted up to 33% of the assigned shift * Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift * Potential for exposure to bio hazardous waste, and known or unknown diseases.
