The Green House Gas (GHG) Program Engineer will report to the HSE Department (Manager, Emerging Issues). This individual will provide technical services to the HSE-Sustainability department focusing on Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting, verification and disclosures to support investor relations ESG initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary organizational driver for preparing annual EPA and CARB GHG Reports

  • Work as part of the Sustainability team to meet the requirements of California's Mandatory Reporting Regulation (MRR), Cap and Trade program and EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP)

  • Participate in CARB and EPA GHG Rule development workshops and communicate the impacts of legislative rule changes to CRC management and operations personnel

  • Develop processes and tools to minimize the use of outside labor, for example the use of SQL, app development, website creation/updates/maintenance

  • Coordinate GHG Verification process including interviews, site visits, issues log deliverables, requests for documentation, presentations, and miscellaneous correspondence

  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date GHG Monitoring Plans for all registered entities, process flow diagrams for each site location, and change logs

  • Participate on Sustainability Team as needed to develop projects to meet CRC's sustainability goals.

  • Update and improve GHG inventory spreadsheets by utilizing multiple data sources such as PI, PGAS, Carte, Maximo, TOW and ProCount

  • Coordinate and track data submissions from portable equipment and service providers for emission calculation purposes

  • Track meter calibrations and process sampling/analysis to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Assist in developing disclosure response to CDP and others to support investor relations efforts

Required qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or similar field

  • In depth knowledge of oil field equipment and operating processes

  • Detailed experience applying MRR calculation methods to oil and gas industry

  • Familiarity with state and local GHG and Air Quality Regulations

  • Able to manipulate databases and spreadsheets and utilize data acquisition systems and process historians. VBA experience is a plus

  • Able to analyze GHG/methane regulations and communicate equipment-specific requirements to Operations

  • Demonstrate basic project management knowledge (scope definition, scheduling and budget tracking)

  • Biased toward action, strong organization and time management skills

  • Good verbal, written and visual presentation communications

  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications and web-based applications

  • Ability to travel to various operating areas in California (including overnight stays)

  • Valid driver's license & a clean DMV record

Desired qualifications:

  • Familiarity with calculation tools, data sources, methods and program from previous work for major California oil producer

  • Working knowledge of California fields and operations located in the Los Angeles, Ventura, San Joaquin and Sacramento Basins
