As a Geotechnical Staff Project Manager, you are a natural leader with a strong work ethic. Although you do not have much past experience in geotechnical consulting, you are able to quickly learn the ropes. You may, however, have experience in performing boring layouts, supervising drilling operations, and performing geophysical surveys which is what drew you to this field. You have great communication skills and are easily able to interact with your team and clients. You also have a "can do" attitude and are ready to take on any project thrown your way and that's why you'll have all the opportunity for career growth within our company you'll want. You will be part of a dynamic, growing and energized team and your role is key to the success of ECS. While your job duties may fluctuate day to day, here are some areas we expect to see you excel in:

  • Performing boring layouts and utility clearances

  • Supervising drilling operations

  • Performing geophysical surveys

  • Classifying soils and assigning lab testing

  • Geotechnical design and analysis

  • Report and proposal preparation and review

  • Budgeting daily and ongoing activities as well as invoicing

  • Marketing including daily on-going client interaction and development of a client database

  • Ability to interact with other staff members on various geotechnical projects

If you can accomplish the above, your boots are probably ready for walking right into this role. Realistically though, you need the following to be considered:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university; MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred, other similar engineering degrees considered if program is ABET accredited

  • 0-2 years of related experience - Great entry-level position for recent BSCE graduates

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license or ability to attain one within 3 months of hire

Golder has a new opportunity for Senior Project Scientist to join our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office to work as part of a team on civil, geotechnical and geological engineering projects. In this role you will have the opportunity to perform geotechnical evaluations and calculations, write technical documents, conduct subsurface investigations, and provide field monitoring, testing and sampling for a variety of projects. Assignments may include travel to remote locations and outside work in various climates. Responsibilities of the role will include: * Scope, budget, execute, and interpret subsurface explorations, with senior technical advice and review * Perform construction observation for heavy earthwork operations * Prepare geotechnical data reports, evaluations, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents * Ability to work with a team or with minimal supervision, and with contractors and cross-discipline in-house designers * Prepare geotechnical recommendations reports with senior review * Work with a team, at times with minimal supervision, that can include contractors and cross-discipline in-house designers * Willingness and ability to work on projects across sectors, performing a variety of suitable tasks as projects demand * Assist with construction drawing review The successful candidate will have a background in: * Bachelors degree (minimum) in a science-related field; Master's degree is preferred * A minimum of 5 years of experience is required; experience with civil, geotechnical, mining and environmental engineering projects is preferred * Additional desirable skills include field logging, sampling, and experience with slope stability, settlement, earth retention, foundations, general civil design, construction, rock engineering, and geotechnical analyses * Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with strong analytical abilities, leadership qualities, a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within groups * A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice is necessary * Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred * Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary Your benefits at Golder will include: * Employee owned structure - own the business, own the result * Competitive benefits and remuneration packages * Opportunity to deepen your expertise in a dynamic work environment * Innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary projects * On the job training, mentoring and coaching Renowned for technical excellence, Golder is a leading, global employee-owned engineering and consulting firm with over a half century of successful service to its clients.
