Position: Geotechnical Project Engineer

We recruit top talent and are currently seeking a full-time Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

This individual will serve as project engineer for all aspects of geotechnical exploration and design. Responsibilities will include coordination and performance of field geotechnical testing and construction observation, coordination of laboratory testing, performance of geotechnical engineering analyses, and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and design documents. Additional responsibilities may include business development, client management, technical QA of reports/documents, and mentoring of staff. Must provide excellent client service.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with the local market, as well as the desire and ability to grow our geotechnical services. Qualified candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and possess the ability to work as a team player.

Geotechnical Project Engineer

  • BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required, MS preferred;

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire;

  • Minimum of 6 years of geotechnical engineering/design experience;

  • Ability to execute the technical aspects of a wide range of projects in markets including coastal, oil & gas, and transportation;

  • Experience with local agency (CPRA/USACE/LDEQ/DOTD/Parish/NRCS) requirements;

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and geotechnical design software applications;

  • Strong verbal and written and communication skills;

  • Consulting experience preferred.

This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy and Reference check program. VIEW JOBS 3/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-19T00:00 Overview / Responsibilities Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and participate in growing a geotechnical engineering design practice along the Gulf Coast for a wide variety of geotechnical-related projects. These projects will generally include the design of: embankment dams, levees, above ground reservoirs, pump stations, and other flood control facilities; mining, commercial, and industrial facilities; and transportation facilities. The successful candidate will work under the close and direct supervision of senior geotechnical engineers to provide remote technical support to other Wood offices. A larger portion of these geotechnical projects are located along the U.S. Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida and will require some travel. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with local Wood personnel and other Engineers located throughout the company. Key Responsibilities * Support multiple geotechnical groups located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tampa, Florida, and West Palm Beach, Florida working under the direction of one or more Project Managers / Principal Engineers within the offices * Perform field exploration, inspection, analysis and provide technical support with supervision including onsite direction of geotechnical drilling activities * Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications and reports including day - to - day correspondence * Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions project design requirements * Act as a data - gatherer, prepare maps and charts, and run various computer programs and spreadsheets to support geotechnical design recommendations * Perform field construction and foundation inspection services * Review and interpret data and test results * Prepare field reports and internal / external correspondence * Perform field construction monitoring * Be able to supervise subcontractors and / or company employees * Follow company safety standards, and site / project safety standards * Contact vendors and research literature and regulatory requirements * Conduct engineering or scientific calculations, and perform entry level design work, preliminary analyses and design geotechnical subsurface explorations Skills / Qualifications * B.S. in Civil Engineering; M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred * 0 to 2 years of related experience * E.I.T. * Familiar with geotechnical engineering analysis, design, and construction * Familiar with standard geotechnical engineering software for slope stability, seepage, settlement, deep foundation design, and soil / structure interaction modeling * Enthusiastic and self - starter with desire to provide excellent service to clients * Strong oral and written communication skills * Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiar with AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus * Valid driver's license with authorization to work in the U.S. Physical Demands * Must be willing to travel and work out of town for extended periods * Physical requirements may require lifting up to 50 pounds and traversing over rugged terrain Company Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
