As a Geotechnical Assistant Staff Project Manager, you are a natural leader with a strong work ethic and positive attitude, and you work well with your internal and external teammates. Although you do not have much past experience in geotechnical consulting, you are able to quickly learn the ropes. You may, however, have experience in performing boring layouts, field tests, classifying soils, performing lab tests, geophysical surveys, geologic mapping, and drafting which is what drew you to this field. You have great communication skills and are easily able to interact with your team. You also have a "can do" attitude and are ready to take on any project thrown your way and that's why you'll have the opportunity for career growth within our company. You will be part of an experienced, dynamic, growing and energized geotechnical engineering team and your role is key to the success of ECS. While your job duties may fluctuate day to day, here are some areas we expect to see you assist with:

  • Performing boring layouts and utility clearances

  • Observing and logging subsurface conditions in test excavations and borings

  • Performing geophysical surveys

  • Classifying soils and assigning lab testing

  • Report and proposal preparation and review

  • Drafting and preparation of construction plans

  • Marketing including daily on-going client interaction and development of a client database

  • Ability to interact with other staff members on various geotechnical projects

If you can accomplish the above, your boots are probably ready for walking right into this role. Realistically though, you need the following to be considered:

  • BS in Civil or Geological Engineering and/or MS in Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET accredited university preferred

  • 0-4 years of related experience

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license would go a long way

  • AutoCAD drafting experience desired

We recruit top talent and are currently seeking a full-time Geotechnical Staff Professional to join our team in Asheville, North Carolina. Position responsibilities include coordination of field explorations, field logging of soil samples, performing engineering calculations/design, preparation of proposals and reports, and project and client support. The position will require some travel. Position will work under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer. Qualified candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and possess the ability to work as a team player. Qualifications/Minimum Requirements: * BS (MS preferred) in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; * Engineering Intern (E.I.T.) certification preferred; * 0-3 years of professional experience; * Basic working knowledge of construction plans and specifications; * Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, with the ability to learn commercial software applications; * Overnight, out-of-town travel and the ability to work outside normal business hours; * Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions; * Routine lifting: 40 to 50 lbs. This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy and Reference check program.
