Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Development Officer reports to the Executive Director of the Georgia 4-H Foundation. This employee will implement identified priorities and funding needs for the George 4-H Foundation in coordination with the State 4-H program. This highly responsible professional position has accountability for the implementation of the Georgia 4-H Foundation annual fund campaigns, special events as well as establishment of a portfolio of donors. Work is performed independently on the basis of a general assignment of the responsibilities and follows through the full continuity of the job to the final results. Frequent work on evenings and weekends is expected. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable private vehicle for official travel duty.

Knowledge of fundraising or marketing/sales.
Highly developed organizational skills and working on multiple projects under deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated public speaking skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, donors and potential donors, and the general public.
Ability to develop and maintain professional skills by participating in continuing education and professional development activities such as conferences, workshops, and committee work; by conducting research or writing for publication; or by engaging in other creative and learning activities.

Coordinate the Georgia 4-H Foundation's annual fund campaign(s).
Cultivate and corporate individual and foundation gifts in support of the Foundation's fund raising priorities.
Establish a corporate and individual portfolio of gifts varying in size from $2,500-$25,000 each.
Contribute to the mission of the Foundation by actively participating in the development and evaluation of departmental goals, initiatives, and special events, serving on appropriate committees, and maintaining awareness of changes in the organization and the university community.
Maintain flexibility and awareness of changes and needs in the office and organization by assuming similar duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Coordinate, implement, and manage:
Annual Fund appeals
Project Sponsors donor requests and renewal
Special Events donor requests and renewal
Scholarship donor requests and renewal
Annual needs list of unfunded projects, events, and scholarships
Special Annual Fund appeals/reminders as prioritized by the Foundation to support the 4-H program
Communication for all annual fund campaigns, including but not limited to, letters, gift receipts and acknowledgements
Correspondence/acknowledgements and solicitation to UGA payroll deduction participants
Conduct 5 personal (face to face) and 15-20 impersonal (telephone, letter, etc.) visits per month with annual fund donors
Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities
Special Events:
Coordinate and implement special events including both fundraising and stewardship events for the Georgia 4-H Foundation in cooperation with the Board of Trustees, appropriate committees, Executive Director and Foundation Staff.
In collaboration with Georgia 4-H Foundation Trustees, committees/sub-committees, and Foundation Executive Director and Staff, coordinate and assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of:
Events for 4-H alumni and friends
Donor receptions
Regional alumni programs
State 4-H Congress donor tours
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
Stewardship:
Keep records on and stewards all prospects through visits, phone calls or other contacts by compiling reports, writing follow-up letters of prospect visits, etc.
Coordinate the procurement and distribution of promotional items and donor gifts to annual fund donors.
Assist in stewardship reports to donors.
Coordinate acknowledgement letters/phone calls from staff, board, and other relevant partners.
Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities
Reporting:
Keep the Executive Director, State 4-H Leader, and other Foundation staff informed of status of the annual fund program efforts by communicating all potential donors, new projects, development efforts, and other pertinent information.
Report goals, progress, and achievements quarterly to Executive Director.
Attend Foundation Board Meetings, reporting on annual fund progress.
Assist Executive Director and Director of Development in identifying major gift prospects by analyzing donor roll of annual fund donors.
Provide, as needed, articles, photos, information needed for newsletter (Cornerstone) and the annual report (Cloverleaf).
Submit processes in 4-H Foundation (Raiser's Edge) and University of Georgia (GAIL) database(s) for gift reports and acknowledgement.
