We're looking for a Geophysical Project Manager who shares our passion for great science and can lead our projects to success with efficiency and innovation.
Role Summary: As a Geophysical Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing geophysical survey projects from conception through to completion. You will ensure that all projects are executed with precision, within budget, and on schedule, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate geophysical projects, ensuring seamless integration with geotechnical investigations, environmental permitting, and subsurface utility engineering.
Oversee the collection and analysis of geophysical data to detect subsurface features such as utilities, sinkholes, underground storage tanks, and rock ridges.
Conduct parametric geophysical investigations to measure subsurface physical properties, including corrosion potential, bearing capacity, and seismic amplification.
Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines, and ensure all objectives are met.
Liaise with clients, providing updates and reports throughout the project lifecycle.
Utilize non-intrusive and non-destructive investigation methods to minimize project risks and liabilities.
Serve as the main point of contact for Subsurface Utility Engineering and Geophysical Services in our Western PA, Ohio, and West Virginia Offices.
Manage multiple client relationships and projects, ensuring adherence to contract requirements and professional standards.
Manage single-discipline projects with budgets up to 100K; multi-disciplinary project management experience is a plus.
Manage project teams with 2 to 5+ staff, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery.
Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing and client presentations.
Requirements:
Advanced skills in subsurface utility designating field techniques (metal detection, electromagnetics [EM], duct rodding, GPR, etc.).
Ability to work independently to locate water, sewer, gas, fiber, telecom, electric sanitary, and storm utilities.
Experience with concrete scanning GPR and rebar mapping is a plus.
Experience and/or interest in learning advanced geophysical field investigation techniques (seismic, gravity, borehole, EM, etc.).
Experience with GPS/GNSS surveying techniques.
Experience managing air/hydro-excavating field activities (test holes).
Experience with CCTV video pipe inspection (storm/sanitary sewer) is a plus.
Ability to prepare reports and exhibits.
Possess 5-10+ years of utility locating experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Civil Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering and Geophysical Services.
Strong project management skills, including experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
