Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics is home to the largest laboratory in NH, providing Pathology and Clinical Laboratory services to DHMC & Clinics physician practices, Dartmouth Health system member hospitals as well as to independent practices and hospitals throughout NH and VT. The department is a leader in process improvement (LEAN/Six Sigma) which has led to a renovated space designed for efficiency of workflow. The Genetic Counselor provides genetic counseling to individuals or families, coordinates screening and diagnostic testing, and provides follow-up.
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position working Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Flexibility in working hours is required for this position.
Responsibilities
Acts as a liaison between the lab and the clinical teams Identifies and coordinates genetic laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies for the genetic assessment and assists in classiflying variant pathogenicity based on ACMG Guidelines as well as assist in drafting accurate and meaningful clinical reports for our patients. Participates in ongoing research activities of the program and the development of department protocols, with data entry and management of the departmental and research databases. Participates in the teaching of residents, medical students, genetic counseling students and other students. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or the equivalent in education and experience required.
Excellent communication skills required.
Required Licensure/Certifications
Board certification/eligibility in Genetic Counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and Medical Genetics required.
Licensed Genetic Counselor in the state of New Hampshire.
