Invitae is reinventing genetic testing by making genetic testing more affordable and accessible than ever before. We are seeking two board-certified genetic counselors to join our Genetic Counseling Services team in providing remote genetic counseling services to patients. Patient care experience is a requirement, preferably in cancer genetics, cardiac genetics and/or reproductive health. Telegenetics experience is preferred, but not required.

What you will do:

  • Provide genetic counseling (by telephone or video) to patients related to their Invitae test results

  • Communicate with clients, Invitae sales representatives, and other Invitae team members to ensure an optimal provision of patient and client care

  • Assist with development of the Invitae Genetic Counseling Services program and broader Invitae educational efforts

Who you are:

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited training program

  • American Board of Genetic Counseling certified

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain Genetic Counselor licensure in multiple states requiring licensure

  • Excellent knowledge base in genetics and patient care

  • Experience in cancer, cardiovascular and/or reproductive health genetics is preferred

  • Creative problem solvers that thrive in flexible, team-oriented environments

  • Ability to function independently in coordination of clinical services and patient care

  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment with evolving needs and progressive workflows

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Self-directed team player

Department Description UCSF Center for Reproductive Health offers a comprehensive array of infertility evaluation and treatment options for both men and women. Our services include: Infertility Evaluation, Male Reproductive Health, Fertility Preservation, Reproductive Surgery, Tubal Reversal Surgery, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), Ovulation Induction, Donor Sperm Insemination, Egg Donor Program for Donors, Egg Donor Program for Recipients, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Recurrent Pregnancy Loss, Gestational Surrogacy, Genetic Screening and Counseling Psychological Support. UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governances (OMAG) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days and must be completed prior to the first working day. Job Summary In addition to performing their clinical functions, Genetic Counselor's function independently and as part of a team in process improvement activities and in the administration and development of programs integral to the delivery of preconception and prenatal genetic services.
