This position provides support for the
Genetic Counseling function by facilitating the genetic testing process,including collection of patient information, sending out specimens,coordinating testing, coordination of insurance information, and maintaininglaboratory kits and supplies. Alsoresponsible for identification of laboratories, researching appropriate testingand sample submission requirements, and preparing genetic test ordering forms. Thisposition will also participate in the general genetic clinical programincluding patient care assistance, collection of medical records and familyhistory, patient phone intakes, entering pedigrees, and preparing riskassessments in genetics software programs. Additional responsibilities includeresolution of routine inquiries, management of phone calls and messages, and medicalrecords requests.
Excellent written andverbal communication skills
Computer aptitude and aworking knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to workindependently, manage multiples priorities, and deal with changing priorities
Ability to provideexemplary patient care and customer service including the ability to maintainconfidentiality and abide by HIPAA guidelines.
Strong organizationalskills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonalskills and the ability to work as part of a professional team and collaborateeffectively with individuals from varying backgrounds.
Bachelor'sDegree in Biology/Genetics
Master's in HumanGenetics/Genomics OR Medical terminology college level course
Experience with electronicmedical records
Knowledge of medicalterminology and medical insurance.
