Generator Controls Shop Technician

Bemana is looking to help hire an Electrical Engineering Technician for a growing company in the Greater Indianapolis, IN area. The company sells used engines and generators that have been rebuilt/refurbished. They also build custom portable power mods in 30 and 40ft containers for specific customers. Their primary focus is on Caterpillar, Cummins and Kohler diesel generators sets.

• M-F work schedule (7:30pm - 3:30pm)
• No nights, weekends or on-call shifts. 
• No mandatory OT, but offered if wanted.

Skills/Duties:

• Assemble electrical and electronic systems.
• Build, calibrate, and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
• Assemble, test and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, knowledge of electronic and technical manuals.
• Read wiring diagrams and install controls and components per diagram requirements.
• Identify solutions to technical design problems that arise in making electrical systems.
• Adjust and replace defective circuitry and electronic components.
• Inspect designs for quality control, report findings and recommend changes.
• Draw diagrams and write specifications about design installations.
• Diagnose and repair any issues found during initial testing.
• Perform voltage changes and breaker upgrades on generators based on customer requirements.
• Assist in final package testing.
• Re-wire, adjust and install control panels and voltage regulators.

Requirements:

• In-depth understanding of electricity, electrical components and/or generator technology.
• Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of experience working in equivalent electrical field.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems and controls.
• Exceptional communication skills to work with team and customers directly on occasion.
• Proficient with estimating time required to complete tasks.
• Experience working with low to medium voltage.
