General Surgeon

Aspire Medical Staffing, a leading healthcare staffing company, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced General Surgeon to join our team at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS), Fresno, CA.

As a General Surgeon at Aspire Medical Staffing, you will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive surgical care to patients of all ages. You will be responsible for evaluating and diagnosing patients, performing surgical procedures, and providing pre- and post-operative care.

VA Business Hours: VA tour of duty will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

• Clinic days are Mondays and Wednesdays (or mutually agreeable alternative days as necessary).
• OR scheduled days are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (or mutually agreeable alternative days as necessary).
• On call coverage is from 4:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday; twenty-four (24) hours on weekends and holidays.
• On-call Contractor’s physician(s) must be available at all times for phone consultations with VA residents and physicians.
• On-call providers must be available within 15 minutes by phone and onsite within 60 minutes.

Physician(s) shall be available and present in clinic during normal General Surgery clinic hours, which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff or Surgical Chief of Surgery. Currently, normal clinic hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen
• Board Certified/Board Eligible GENERAL SURGERY Physician Services 40 hrs per week.
• (This would include afterhours on-call coverage - 10 days per month/16 hrs per day and 17 weekends per year/48 hrs per weekend)
• Medical degree from an accredited medical school
• Completion of a residency program in General Surgery
• Board certification: shall be Board Certified by the ABS or Board Eligibility in General Surgery
• Active, unrestricted, and current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia) when services are performed onsite on VA property.
• Physician(s) who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• DEA: shall provide a copy of current DEA
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in performing a wide range of general surgical procedures

Duties:

• Evaluate and diagnose patients with surgical conditions
• Perform surgical procedures according to established guidelines and protocols
• Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Document patient information accurately and timely
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives
