General Supervisor, Process Control Systems-I/E (Aurora, NC, USA)

This position reports to the Superintendent, Maintenance I/E.

What you will do:

The primary function of this position is to provide leadership for all technical systems related to process control. This is to include process control networks, physical and virtual server environment, industrial communication protocols, cyber security, and process computers. Support department during Superintendents absence. These activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Management of the day-to-day operation of the facilities network to include monitoring and maintenance planning

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the facilities process control security, and communication systems, to include: monitoring and maintenance plan

  • Support of the day-to-day operation of the department during Superintendents absence

  • Responsible for ensuring that sound procedures are in place and documented on the department web site to recover from a system failure

  • Provide needed support for process server, process computer activities, and any equipment which resides on the process control network

  • Manage resources for process control help calls to support the area I/E crews

  • Govern and support major projects that require process control support and/or integration. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling, supporting, ordering, to meet process control requirements.

  • Maintain current documentation for all process control activities using the facilities electronic documentation standard. Also ensure accurate user documentation is available and accurate.

  • Responsible for overall effective leadership and direction of the Process Control Systems sitewide

  • Accountable for all Process Control preventive maintenance and repairs throughout the Mine and chemical plants area

  • Provides leadership for all technical systems related to process control to include network, server, communications, security, and process computers

  • Accountable for all process-related technical systems at the Aurora, NC facility

  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of network systems, coordinates design and implementation standards, and serves as a technical resource for support of server and process control systems

  • Liable for safety, housekeeping, budget assistance and administration of company policies

  • Inspects projects, plants, and equipment on a routine basis. This requires moderate exertion to climb ladders, stairs, inclined walkways and to walk on uneven terrain; lifting of moderately heavy parts and equipment may be required.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum requirements for this position are a high school diploma, ten years' experience in troubleshooting and maintaining process control equipment or graduation from an accredited college with a AS degree in process control engineering and a minimum of five years' experience in process control systems.

  • Preferred education/experience includes ten years' experience in troubleshooting and maintaining process control equipment and graduation from an accredited college with a degree in process control engineering with a concentration in network application, servers, virtual environments and cyber security. (it is preferred that and a minimum of 5 years' experience in process control systems)

  • Incumbent must be familiar with networking, and server applications for process control environments

  • This position requires a demonstrated, consistent compliance record with safety and environmental goals, and record of team participation and a minimum of five years of direct supervisory experience (supervisory experience may be project management related task directing contractors etc.)

  • Must be well-qualified by education and/or experience to troubleshoot, recommend equipment, supervise installation by following industry practices such as IEEE, NEC, OSHA, and MSHA requirements

  • Possess the ability to communicate both written and orally, capable of assisting in budget preparation, department manning, AFE preparation and all other management responsibilities

  • Must be familiar with safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance

  • Must be knowledgeable with quality improvements, "Teaming", empowerment and statistical techniques and skills

  • Incumbent must pass a pre-employment exam and drug screening

  • Working knowledge of current process control technology in the areas of servers and networking

  • Knowledge of and experience in the process control networking protocols and hardware in use at Phosphate Operations including Ethernet/IP, Radio Frequency Ethernet, TCP/IP, fiber-optics, bridges, routers and switches

  • Knowledge of and experience in the process control computing hardware in use at Phosphate Operations, including the Dell Servers, Microsoft server operating software, and IBM compatible process computers for example

  • Thorough knowledge of the servers, process computers, process area network, and operating software in use at Phosphate process control environment

  • Knowledge of software used in the process control environment including, but not limited to, Virtual Machine, Wonderware, Rockwell, Modicon, Mark IV, Honeywell etc.

  • Accountability for the accuracy of all work and for care of the equipment within their charge

  • Responsibility for the planning of work to meet goals and project deadlines in the absence of established procedure
