General & Administrative - Sr. Product Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Quality & Engineering

REPORTING TO: Director of Quality & Engineering

SUMMARY: Integrate newly developed or enhanced product, components, and systems with machine and/or assembly platforms through design, manufacturing, and validation of molded plastic components, sub-assemblies, sub-components, and full systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research, develop, and evaluate design concepts including materials, specifications, equipment, or machines.

• Perform or facilitate installation/testing related to the product, system, or process.

• Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing products or processes.

• Create and update documentation for design revisions through the phases of the project and engineering change management.

• Work with external customers, distributors, vendors, or suppliers to initiate new designs/enhancements to solve problems.

• Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.

• Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.

• May provide or assist with training needs as it relates to new or existing products or processes.

• May assist with quote or request for quote process.

• Performs technical work that does not require previous experience.

• Works independently, as well as with a team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Engineering with 3+ years experience in Mechanical Design.

• A minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment/company.

• Experience in 2D & 3D computer aided drafting (CAD) systems such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

• Good understanding of PPAP, Control/Inspection Plans, PFMEA, problem solving tools such as 8D's, 5 Why's, Fish bone diagram and Process mapping;

• Experience with Root Cause identification and Corrective Action implementation;

• Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and outside contacts (Customer, Sister Company, Other departments, Suppliers);

• Proficient working abilities within Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and Power Point.
