A General Service Worker will provide a variety of support tasks to the Big O Tire operations such as transferring tires, stock and inventory tires and products, and maintain the appearance of the Big O Tire stores.

  • Transfer tires as needed between stores and warehouses

  • Clean the shop and employee bathroom

  • Inventory warehouse merchandise

  • Maintain a clean shop, lot and employee bathroom, using company guidelines

  • Maintain internal and external store appearance to comply with Big O Tires standards

  • Know and adhere to company policies and procedures

  • Utilize and perform all duties on the company checklists to meet consistent adherence to policies, procedures and expectations

  • Adhere to all local, state and federal regulations concerning all facets of job responsibilities and duties, and store operations

  • Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked

  • Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, vendors and customers

  • Keep supervisor informed of any maintenance problems and/or any issues that need attention

  • Assist in the proper training of new employees as needed

  • Safely operate customer vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions

  • Unload transport trucks and warehouse tires and cut up disposed tires and dispose to the proper area

  • Clean facilities, tools and equipment; and stock shelves

  • Complete all required training in a timely manner

  • Maintain good working relationship with all employees

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 17 years of age (with parental consent) or older

  • Valid driver's license

  • Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after regular business hours as needed

  • Reliable transportation to work

  • Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials

  • Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery

  • Capability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles

  • Ability to exchange accurate information with customers

  • Willingness to work with hazardous materials

  • Ability to consistently drive and work in outdoor weather conditions

  • Willingness to comply with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) regulations

  • Vision, hearing, speech, and the ability to detect odors is essential

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or driving) for up to nine hours per shift

  • Ability to move and position self to move and retrieve product and supplies from shelves, under counters, or stacks of inventory weighing 75 pounds

  • Ability to meet company requirements, including successful pre-employment drug screening, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and criminal background check

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States of America

Responsibilities Primary Responsibility: Under general supervision, Lift Truck Operator (LTO), Warehouse Worker will ensure safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of food products utilizing equipment including, but not limited to sit down and stand up forklifts, stand up straddle trucks, walk behinds, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks and radio frequency equipment. Essential Functions: • Load and unload freight using equipment in an efficient and safe manner. • Move product to storage areas with proper equipment. • Efficiently stack and safely store the merchandise in the designated area. • Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of merchandise to be shipped. • Check or count freight for accuracy and/or damage and infestation. • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. • Conduct operations in a manner, which promotes safety. • Participate in physical inventories, as needed. • As directed by management, perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking. • Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Equipment to include (but not limited to) stand up forklifts, stand up straddle trucks, walk behinds, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks and radio frequency equipment. • Promptly Report all safety malfunctions on equipment. • Comply with OSHA standards. • Must be able to meet production standards. • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work environment. • Follow attendance policy, show up for work on time and ready to work assigned shift. • Charge or change forklift battery as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned, may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed. • Tools and Technology: Computer, Warehouse management system and related components, Pallet Jack, high lift, sit down or stand up lift truck, Hi-lift, RC Qualifications Qualifications & Experience: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, or at least one year related work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Requires ability to work independently • May work overtime, evenings, or weekends in order to complete work or to attend meetings, as directed and authorized by management • Requires the ability to pay close attention to details, and meet deadlines Physical Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions for this position and meet the physical requirements needed to perform them, including but not limited to frequently requiring the ability to drive a fork lift, sit; hear or talk: use close vision; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects; and type and manipulate controls.
